soundx98 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 DDaniel. Very impressive screenshots and congratulations on an awesome OC. Welcome to the forum. Please help us to help others by following forum rules. You are required to complete a signature of your equipment. (and it looks impressive as hell so that should be no problem) I have removed the tags from your picture (and Dinos22's quote) You are not allowed to post pictures larger than 800x600. PLease take some time away from OCing and read the forum rules. Then hit us with some more benchmarks. Personally I'd like to see as many pics of the rig and screenshots as possible. Sometimes it's no fun being a Mod but the rules are there for a reason. I am assuming you were linked to this thread and somehow missed the rules. Contrariedad Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 as i said before, i benched a 144 & 3200 to compare them and the 144 won despite being 200mhz slower Tatts, I'm not trying to flamebait you and I hope you're not either. The topic of 512KB of L2 cache versus 1MB is still of interest to me. You mentioned that you compared your 144 to your 3200. I clicked on your profile and looked at all your posts since you got your Opteron but didn't see any info about what benchmark led to the conclusion that the 144 was more than a few percent faster than the 3200. Can you help me understand how you came to that conclusion? Sorry if I overlooked the post that contained that info...
tatts Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 all i was saying is look at amds products i.e. the 4600 & 4800, the only difference is the L2 and amd claim it to be worth 200mhz which made me think. so before i sold my 3200 venice, i did aload of benchmarks to compare it against the 144 (200mhz slower but more L2) and the 144 won. 3dmark01 .. the 3200 scored 15882 & the 144 16385 (both on my old 6600) the 144 also won in superpi & sandra and now wish i took screenies to proove it
Squid1 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 So, tatts, 3dmark, which is a synthetic benchmark, is the only program you ran to compare performance and you say my benchmark suite with 20+ real-world applications is [edited out because original statement is gone, too]? soundx98 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Dear Carl,we got all our 144’s, and a few 146’s yesterday (all CABYE 0540). A lot more 146’s will be showing up today, so depending on where you are in line, you should hopefully have one ship out tomorrow. We’ll keep you posted! -Ben Peters TankGuys I'm at the front of the line - w00t
tatts Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 look martin, i aint bothering posting again, you obviously cant read. not only did i use 3dmark, there was superpi, sisandra actual games (which counts unlike some useless benchmarks) and pcmark04, i also encoded a dvd and sorry to say, the 144 won in them all. i suggest you contact amd and tell them they have a problem, it is pointless selling the x2 4800 as the x2 4600 is faster (according to you) even though there the same clock speeds but have different L2 cache. and the next time you do some tests, use some proper benchmarks weve heard of and actual stuff which matter like games & video editing
soundx98 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 @ tatts and Martin - you guys need to step back and chill a bit. both of you drop the subject and the digs at each other. next step is a vacation from the forum.

soundx98 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Nice post tatts. No need to apologize to me. But I'm sure you made crazyaz "ix", the thread starter, pretty happy. seen enough posts from you and Martin to realize somebody must have slipped sumthin into your drinkin' water. Let's keep posting those benchmarks and settings folks, just make sure the pics are 800x600 or less. I just hope my Opteron 146 gets me close to you guys in the OC dept. If not, keep your doors locked at night.
