  1. This is good, at least the thread is being steered away from Logitech. My proposal was just a basic idea, the first thing that popped into my head. I have that Yamaha receiver, it's a good entry unit.

  2. Allow me to explain a bit. Over the years, I've gone through several PC-specific sets, ranging from Altec Lansing to Logitech, they all disappoint in some way or other. Logitech's are boomy and the sats sound tinny, and the whole system starts to disintegrate after two years. Altec Lansing set I had before wasn't much better, as I remember they weren't quite loud enough to be pleasurable.

The best thing is just to start out with an entry-level receiver from Yamaha or Pioneer and some decent speakers, possibly with a subwoofer. Even in stereo, the sound is much more pleasing. You feel part of the action in any listening situation.

This is what I'm proposing you to get:

    Receiver: http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-RX-V361BL-5-1...5327&sr=1-8

    Speakers (2.0) http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Two-Way-B...469&sr=1-10

    Speakers (5.1) http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Channel-T...5626&sr=1-1

Either of those sets will be leaps and bounds above anything with Logitech scribbled on the front.

  3. Other than drivers, what else have you tried? I thought my card was faulty as well, but it turned out to be how my RAM was set up.

Rather than arguing, you could do something productive and tell us the rest of your hardware and settings. With luck, someone will see the problem and tell you how to correct it.
