No need to upgrade the RAM, 2gb is fine. Only if you think it's not fast enough.
-
I actually have one of those ASUS boards. Willing to make a sale if the deal is right.
-
This problem is almost always related to the memory. I had the same problem when the RAM was overclocked too far on my rig.

Intel is phasing out the old technology for something better. Happens all the time, same with the original C2Ds.
-
While it's not exactly a revolution, Win7 is the required change from Vista. Due to the reputation of Vista, it had to be cut short. I enjoy using it and will probably buy it later on.
-
Already been said, but you're not going to see any real difference simply by slotting in a faster P4. Those are well behind the current technology in every way.
-
You should replace that PSU very soon.

Most likely it is a blown capacitor on the motherboard. Take it out and inspect it, then replace it if any capacitors are blown.

I thought about giving this a go with a 9600GT to fold along side the 4870. Turns out the challenge of drivers makes it difficult or impossible to do, not worth it.

Depends on what you want it for. Do you plan to play games on it?
This is the correct forum for laptop related stuff, by the way: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showforum=85 .

What size are your other fans? Bigger fans don't need to spin at the same speed to move the same amount of air.

When using MF, try the live view in combination with focus area zoom to dial the focus in just right. I use that with my Rebel XS and it usually turns out well.
-
Doubt you'll ever make use of the full wattage, 8800gts are about 125w each. Even with four, a quality 850w would suffice.

Great to see some fresh usernames on the folding team. We need all the help we can get.

original X-Fi cards (not newer ones) have hardware Dolby decoding and can apply it to the S/PDIF optical input... (i.e. discrete multichannel sound, not stereo upmix)
http://www.overclock.net/sound-cards-compu...ard-ps3-pc.html
I have an Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1. I know what the card is capable of. You cannot feed the card Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS and get 5.1 back right back out of it. The input only accepts stereo, I'm afraid. Yes, they do 5.1 over S/PDIF on the output, after it gets upmixed.
-
I used the same OEM copy of XP on three or four different builds. Just make sure you're only using it on one build at a time and you'll be fine.
-
None of the soundcards accept 5.1 through the S/PDIF input, only stereo. The good news is, plenty of cards actually have the S/PDIF input and they will upmix it into virtual 5.1 for you via Prologic II or some other similar way.
This one will work a treat. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16829118109

In terms of speed, you'll notice little or no difference with PC8500. The majority of your performance comes from the HTT and CPU clock. Depending on how you overclock, your RAM may not even come into play.
-
How bored do you have to be to come up with that? He must have no life!

Most of the consumer routers are disposable objects. Work for two or three years, then they just die. Most of it is down to cheap components they use. Just buy a new one and don't worry about it too much.
