You know in your head that if you didn't touch the laptop, the screen would still work. That means you're solely responsible to get it repaired. Pack it in and take it as a learning experience.

It's still old technology, basically an 8800gtx they put in the microwave. Why have that creaky old pile of rubble, when you could have a 4870.

Problem with the 9800GX2, it's just a rehash of old technology. Going with the 4870 gives you the option of Crossfire later on, with Intel chipsets.

That's quite good really, past that magical 1ghz overclock.
I've got my E8500 at 3.6 as well, fearful of overclocking any further and mucking up the stability. -

Myspace is pretty much reject society, mostly emos who feel the rest of the world doesn't understand them. -
SLi doesn't work on the X48 and it should have a better PSU.

If you've got any services stressing the CPU during gameplay, that will cause stuttering. Stuff like anti-virus, firewall and instant message apps, can cause this as well.
For the services, google up a guide to tell you which ones to disable. Other apps are easier, just close them before you game.

Windows 7 looks promising, a big improvement from Vista. I'm looking forward to it.

Both options are fine, really. I would suggest the PCI card, you won't have another gadget cluttering up the desk.
Models from all the well-known brands such as D-Link, Linksys and Netgear are good.

If you have voltage problems, you're far better off to replace the PSU and not risk damaging your hardware. I personally wouldn't trust a Thermaltake PSU to anything other than some cheap budget rig. By looking at the specs, it seems pretty weak.

GPU folding is the dog's parts, easily faster than the SMP client. I'm averaging ~3700ppd with the 4870. Just wish they could get it optimised to work as well as the nVidia version.
