I can get this in South-Africa for about $115

or http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=23650

for about $205

So I'm seriously thinking about the A-Open,

how's the 12v rail and rest of the specs on the A-Open,

will it be a safe bet?

The ripple & noise specs of the A-Open exceed the ATX/Intel/AMD specs. NOT RECOMMENDED.

The Antec Trio is & good PSU, H_G is testing one now with excellent results. ;)

what's "ripple specs" ?

noise not a problem for me, I'll take noise if it saves me $100

How's the PSU itself,

the 12v rails and all that?

heh, dude, when he says ripple noise he means the amount of the flancuations between the lowest and highest the Voltages of each rails do...

Thats is very bad for a psu, the lower the better, max ripple is 10% for 12v, and for the rest 5% (if i aint mistaken), and even if they reach that, it means its overloaded or just bad hardware...

i suggest you listen to David, i think he has 'nuff experiance over this section.

latz, good luck

look at this review at Toms Hardware:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/07/11/str...test/index.html

and this page:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/07/11/str...est/page28.html

The OCZ 600w, SWITCHED OFF in most test if not all

That article is over a year old.

It is not about the OCZ GXS 600W, it is about the older PowerStream.

And it was written by "Tom's" which is far from being a good source for anything PSU related.

FORGETABOUTIT!

Dave :P

Given the limited choices, I would go with an Antec Trio either,

the 550W for your current system or the 650W with room for future growth. ;)

thanks man !!!!

will try and order it tommorow,

so sad th A-open don't cut it

Hiper HPU-4K580 (580w)
