Another Dead Asus Board

Recommended Posts

As one could see in my signature my primary rig is Missing in Action and just yesterday morning I finally decided to alleviate the problem, if it was indeed possible and to much dismay it wasn't. For the past month or so I've been getting the CPU_INIT POST code and I never had the time to actually sit down and diagnose the cause(s), until yesterday and the cause wasn't my Q6600 or my RAM, it's the board itself. Somehow it seized up and died or something similar in nature, the point being this has been my second consecutive (third ASUS board in total) that has just died for reasons I know not how to explain without waving my fist in the air.

So, I've decided to go back to DFI as I'm familiar with their quality and I simply love my CFX-3200DR...I've been looking at the LT X48-T2R and I've read some good things about, and I'm wondering if anyone here has the board and could possibly steer me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Ewwww... Why do people waste their money on buy mbs from ASUS? They always seem to have a high failing rate.

I have had zero Asus and Gigabyte boards fail, unlike DFI and Evga which I have the worst luck with.

I've never had an ASUS board fail at all .. 1 DFI board went south on me and replaced it with an ASUS A7N8X-E and with all the same hardware( granted the OC'ing fetures were not very good, but that has changed in todays boards) =It's still runnin today. So you can label me ASUS fan boy, cause they have never let me down..

Had 6 ASUS boards, never had a problem, but then I have not asked anything too stressful of them. Had 1 MSI which never worked well. Next board may be GA so I can compare, but ASUS have never let me down.

I always had great luck with ASUS even though I don't own one now. Last rig was an Asus p5wdh deluxe 975x running e6600 @ 3.06. i still have that board and processor. Might be something else causing your grief. Only reason I ditched the board was because it couldn't OC quad very well.

With Asus it seems to be hit or miss. I've seen some people get great results with there Asus boards while others are always RMA theres.

I've noticed this as well, in fact the first bad experience I had with an ASUS was the old A8N32-SLI from the good ol' 939 days. I didn't really pay much attention, nor was I concerned with the matter because at the time I was still somewhat of an utter n00b. The first Maximus I had ran solid for several months and then...died mysteriously, same with the second it was solid for two months or so and then just died on me.

Two consecutive deaths of the same board, albeit the first being the SE version and the second being the basic (if one could even call it that) model? I won't say I'll never own another ASUS board, but I'll be very cautious of their products now.

I've had a good experience with the A8R32-MVP, over a year old and working fine. Due to the low-power design of the chipset, it doesn't like overclocking my 110w CPU. I can still overclock my CPU about 300mhz. I'm not an insane tweak monkey, so I'm pleased.
