virus Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 (edited) if someone was using up a crap load of your companys bandwidth that you have to supply to everyone who pays your company for it, by downloading illegal files. would you just do nothing? lol It sucks they are limiting small and legal files though. and I dont really like comcast I think they rip you off, but Its the only thing here. I wish somebody would give them some damn competition. Edited October 20, 2007 by virus
road-runner Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Legal file sharing is what people are complaining about. Associated Press downloaded a copy of the King James Bible from two computers in the Philadelphia and San Francisco areas, both of which were connected to the Internet through Comcast cable modems. We picked the Bible for the test because it's not protected by copyright and the file is a convenient size. In two out of three tries, the transfer was blocked. In the third, the transfer started only after a 10-minute delay. When we tried to upload files that were in demand by a wider number of BitTorrent users, those connections were also blocked. road-runner Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I think the main problem is the ISPs have to many people on there network and cant provide the service they say they have.

Waco Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 If you enable encryption and use non-standard ports they can't filter it.
ir_cow Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 exactly, but not all know how to do that. i have to change ports because of my router but almost everyone i know doesnt have a router because theres only one computer which in turn makes them not understand the need for such messures

It makes it easier since you don't have to worry about port forwarding.
GuJuMaN89 Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 my isp throttles usenet access lol back home i can get like 1meg/sec but at my place it gets throttled to like 2 kb/sec
oblivescence Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 *sigh* oh well. They really should have just throttled the speed, that would have been a much better decision on their part. anyways, unless they start putting daily quotas on download and upload, this is just going to require another step to bypass. I bet the bypass steps will soon even be built into some of the fancier clients.
