Fanatic Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 OK, So I sitting here bored and decided to throw together a system. Now bear in mind this is a rough guess of what I would put together. No monitor, keyboard, speakers...etc, just tower. Anyway tear it apart and give me feedback. Oh and I know I choose a thermalTake case, I would love to have a ThermalRight, but they don't make them. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16811133132 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16811133154 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16813130484 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16814130251 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16817104155 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16819103539 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16820146890 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16822144417 x 2 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16827106008 Choose the Modstream to save a little cash. I would rather have the powerstream, but gotta cut corners a bit somewhere.
Hyper Threaded Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Not that the Modstream 520 is a bad PSU, there are a few better ones are around for the same or close to the same cost, though. I personally have the Enermax Liberty 500w, it's pretty good. If you like the blue connectors of the OCZ, have a look at this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817101519
Guest Raven65 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Cases are good, so is the CPU, MoBo, Ram, and burner. I'd go with either a 6800gt it's only about 50 more. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814121192 Do the armor case. they were about 160 a couple months ago. Psu go with an enermax liberty. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817194003
slugbug3311 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Ya take out one of those harddrives and put that money into a video card. You will be happy you did
Fanatic Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 The video Card is not a critical componet of this system. I know, I can't believe I said that, but this system will not be used for gaming. All other tasks, but gaming is a very low priorty. Thats why I choose the 6600GT and went with faster bigger HDD. Good input, keep it coming. Please also rate 1 to 10, 10 being the best. Nagash Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 It is a lot less work for people to help you if they don't have to click every single link just to see what you are building.

dice Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Then why would you choose a san diego if its not for gaming. Go with intel or FX series.
BTSchnarfy Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Personally, instaed of going the RAID route, i'd go with a larger HD with 16MB cache (seeing as how RAID isn't very beneficial for most desktop users).
Fanatic Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I would have just posted the newegg wish list, but I read on here somewhere that it didn't work. I went with the San diego core for speed, this computer will be a high traffic hard drive transfer rig. Isn't Sata faster than the standard IDE in a raid configeration? Bottom line is I need to transfer data into the hard drive and out of the hard drive as fast as possible.
Inu_Yasha Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 A little tip about getting a hd, go to somewhere like slickdeals.net or fatwallet.com. You can get REALLY cheap hd's if you don't mind waiting for rebates!
