gravy Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 never flashed my VGA bios and never plan to, just can't take a $200 chance that it f's up my only video card, know what I mean.....I'll stick to overclocking, but I can see why you would need one every once in a while
Vasto Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I don't have one, but I am currently trying the find the floppy 5.25" floppy we have somewhere around the house. That would make my comp pretty bad butt.

henbenley Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I havent used a floppy drive in over 2 years thanks to my thumb drive. I still have one that I keep incase it need it for BIOS stuff or anything special, but I dont have one installed on any of my systems except for the family dell and that came with it. I havent really needed one for anything, so I'd at least make sure to have one around, but not necessaraly installed all the time. Ste Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Well, I really don't see how you can put anything on those things cept maybe a couple or word or some notepad files. Theres just no more. Btw can zip drives be placed in 3.5 bays or 5.25 bays?
hardnrg Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 who would run windows on a RAID.. lol.. 418568[/snapback] raid-1 and raid-5... at least twice as reliable as a single disk, raid 5 is up to twice as fast too... personally i run raid-0 cos i'm hardcore... if a disk fails it fails plain and simple imo, if i get a bad sector then boohoo i'll just run scandisk i have floppy drives for stuff like memtest, bios flashes (mobo, graphics), firmware flashes (cd, dvd), sata/raid drivers... yeah yeah, you could probably put those each on a bootable cd or slipstreamed cd... but how much of a pain in the arse is that? i just put some stuff on a floppy which either takes zero time (cos it's already there, e.g. memtest disk, sata/raid disk) or takes like 15 seconds (firmware/bios flash files)...
