henbenley Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 I dont think that theyre worth the money, cause you have fans in your system to take care of that little bit of heat. IMHO if your gonna cool your HD with one of those then you might as well put heatsinks on sound card and cd-drive. EDIT: next time read what it says on the site: Compatible with all 3.5" hard driveFits in a standard 5.25" drive bay
airman Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 i agree with henbenly...i think they are pointless
kobalt Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 (edited) In my opinion, Hdd coolers are sold for looks , some HD's may need a little more room (air)to breathe but most are made to work for a long time with just good case cooling. Instead get a good 80mm intake in front of your case for the drives But if you like the looks and gadgetery, go for it Edited October 4, 2004 by kobalt
Byron Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 yea, i just kept my hds spread out, and have nice airflow around them, and they are cool to touch on top & bottom. So good airlfow and good case temps will be perfectly fine.
asus Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 your hd does not need extra cooling unless you live in the middle of the desert.. lol.. so.. dont wory about it .. unless you have 6tb of raptors stacked lol

spathalogic Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 If you're rich and have money to blow, get those for the "why not" factor .
sdy284 Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 actually...if you're that rich, and you bought 6TB worth of raptors...i'd slap ya silly, for not buying 15k rpm SCSI drives instead
BabyBalrog Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 actually...if you're that rich, and you bought 6TB worth of raptors...i'd slap ya silly, for not buying 15k rpm SCSI drives instead Consider that a double slap, but still for most builds a case fan infrount of the HDDs is plenty, and about the sound card RAM sinks... guess what.. actualyl improved my friends performance a bit, less noise ( pun) in the speekers EDIT: but then again we are both Band geeks and can tell the difference between 44Khz and 192Khz fairly easly
suchuwato Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 i have a fan that blows over the hdd anyway which cools much better than any of your fancy hdd coolers. they're pointless, unless you are really really serious gamer with raptors
