Whats The Best For Thermal Compund

hey all,

i've heard that heat pads are good, i've heard that all ocer's use silver compound, so whats the best to use for a thermal compund? also how do you correctly apply it?

Arctic silver 5 is the best overall, but it takes 200hrs to set, Arctic Silver Ceramique is a few degrees hotter, but takes like 24-48hrs to set. So Its basically up to your preferences.

but how do you apply it right, i've heard a thin even layer and a dab here a dab there? and by set do you mean after you put it on and put the heatsink and processor togethor?

Letting it set is running your computer with the compound on (heatsink on also :-P). You really dont have to do anything special, they recomment that you turn off your comp a few times during the "burn in". That is just letting it cool off to room temp. Read around www.arcticsilver.com, they have a lot of explanations to the chemistry behind it :-P

I alos prefer arctic silver 5. There are thermal compunds that will perfrom just as well, but AS 5 has the best combination of performance, longevity, and ease of application. At least in my opinion.

Arctic Silver 5 on all my machines applied per there website instructions, this is what it looked like with one little drop in the center like the say, I had put this together when I had the pelt but took it back apart the next morning to do more sealing for condensation, there pictures are about the same for the P4s
