AYoKoNA I ask you to please not try and fight with the guy I am sure General has alot to be stressed about so leave the poor man be. No I am not bashing you here AYoKoNA you do have alot of valid points but at the same time you are looking at it from a different perspective. Personaly I have seen alot of different levels of wealth in my lfe though it might only be 17 years. I have been dirt poor and I have been well off (like right now) and I know what it is like to get screwed. Father getting laid off or cheated by the company (last year long story) = alot of grief. Now I can relate to General as I had a close friend that something similar happened to his father and I watched them hit things rather hard. It is tough man but that is something that happens when you live in a capitalistic society. No country is perfect either and ours has some flaws but overall do you and your father enjoy leaving here? Has this country not done something good for you in the past? We do get cheated by the system time to time and it sucks but all you can do is pick yourself up and move on. This country could be worse and it could be better but you cannot change it right this second and have to accept it for what it is. If you want to change it then get into a place of power and change it as best you can but for now just spend your energy helping out your father. AYoKoNA: I doubt you read the whole patriot act it is 300 some pages of political nonsense that only law students or better can understand. Did I say I read the "whole" patriot act, no! I said I read the patriot act, and it doesn't take a "rocket scientist" to realize that everywhere on the Document it points to references to stop TERRORISM, nothing more... Long story short, any evidence aquired by the patriot act in regards to anything but terrorism, would be thrown out of a criminal investigation in trial.. Like I said, point me to one abuse, and I will admit i am WRONG... Until then my point stands, Democrats like Feinstein and Joe Bidan, along with the ACLU do not have 1 REPORTED instance of abuse..... Sorry but I stick by facts.. I can name one person who has been abused by the Patriot Act. That is my father. Today we went to open a savings account for the money he made off selling the building. Right now he isnt living anywhere. He lost his house and everything. Anyways we goto the bank, and they wont let him open an account because he dosent have a residence. Ofcourse they won't let him open a bank account w/o a residential address! I don't know about after the Patriot act, but Almost EVERY BANK required a residential address, (P.O. box is usually not enough) WAY b4 the Patriot Act....(Info retrieved from Jenny @ New Accounts Washington Mutual ) Regardless I don't think they want Terrorists using these funds to money launder and eventually Kill 3000 Americans so why not be a little more "strict" to prevent something like that happening? This is yet another effect of the patriot act. So dont tell me Citizens get abused. They do. I fully researched the patriot act. Again point to a specific abuse? Your father wasn't abused.... You think I want a terrorist to send money through a P.O. Box from God knows what country he is from? I think not, along with "most Americans....And again this "Rule" for a residential address was institued at "Most" banks LONG B4 the Patriot Act... Thats why Democrats like John Kerry voted for it. Because they didnt know what to do. Hmmm.... Why have someone in Office who doesn't know what to do at a time of Crisis... But seriously Ayokona alot of the patriot act destroys alot that this country was founded on. Freedom of Speech? Hell no not anymore.Again General , until you stop "Generalizing" (Ha! General, your first post is so hypocritical its not even funny. You say your sick of money grubbing america? Well, we wouldnt have a money grubbing governement if republicans ran everything. You can blame people like john kerry and ted kennedy for the huge taxes that are put on the american people and small business. And if john kerry gets his way, he's gonna raise taxes even higher. You wonder why business are outsourcing? And moving all the tech jobs to over seas? Its becuase the liberals are making it nearly impossible to conduct buisness in this country. When you look at it, the amount of taxes and penalties imposed on small businesses and civilians are so extreme that it becomes more economical to ship everything out. That is why we must do everything in our power to rid this country of "liberals" and their socialistic views. It will ruin everything. And this may suprise you, but I do agree. Perfect communism would be the best thing that could ever happen. Ever seen star trek? Perfect communism at its finest. They dont even have money! They have replicators and everyone works for the common good. But you have to see the world for what it is. This is not a perfect world, and the only plan of action that will actually produce GOOD results is capitilism. Capitilism is the closest we are going to get to a good government, because in a world where perfect communism cannot and will not ever exist we have to have things in such a way where there is just enough government regulation and control to keep everything stable while still letting the people and small businesses prosper as much as possible without imposing huge fees and taxes on them. And you know what, I do feel for your loss. But obviously your fathers business was not profitable enough to succeed. And whether it be by the cost of materials or the amount of taxes he had to pay, you cannot deny that if republicans had their way and were allowed to lower taxes, it certainly would have been easier for your father to stay in business. And dont try telling me I dont know what Im talking about. My family owned a business too. It was a jamba juice (anyone heard of it?) and becuase of the royalties and taxes we had to pay we couldnt survive more than three years! We had to pay tens of thousands of dollars in taxes every year so that we could subsidize government funded programs like social security and welfare. All programs put into place by liberals and for liberals. And you know what, so what if my parents are in the upper tax bracket. And so what if we have nice cars in the driveway and are able to go on vacations and cruises to hawaii when we feel like it. We have EARNED that right by working hard and putting our energy towards making things better for ourselves, rather than trying to leech off of others as a cruch. Complaining about your situation will not get you anywhere in this country, except maybe to the projects with a welfare check and a handful of food stamps! That my family will have provided for you. My advice. Get your head out of your hiney and wake up. Your situation is not bushes fault. Its john kerrys, ted kennedys, bill clintons, and yours (for believing what they tell you). Im done with my rant. And if you dont like it, call rush limbaugh and try complaining to him. Ill be listening to him tommorrow if you would like to call hime, Im sure it would be entertaining. At this point, the U.S. is so bloody war dependent to make its ecomony last. Sure, lets have people spend money to fuel the taxes that will go towards a pointless war effort in Iraq. I have seen too much BS being excreted from his . that I would need a D10 bulldozer to clean it up. I am now feeling ashamed for the brits as they have decided to follow in the same course of action, that will eventually tarnish their reputation for being such a polite and quaint continent. Democrats = Evil Tax those who do work hard for their money and give to those who wont ( Welfare ,Food Stamps, Medicare and Medicaid,Social security). The rich pay more taxes and get more back as a dollar amount yes but the percentages are the same i.e. you pay more you get more back. Don't take this wrong general but when you get a job and see 33+% of your earnings taken out you will understand how bad it sucks to have a tax increase. Then you can see just how good the liberal side of the fence is. Heck this is the first president in my lifetime that i ever got anything back from. HHhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm Cutting taxes sure does sound good to me. I dont mind paying for National Defense and for roads but thats about the limit of what my cost should be.
