  1. Looks like I will find out tomorrow. My buddy has a chip that will work so I will take the thing over to his place and test it. Still haven't heard back from asrock, so much for their customer service.
  2. Is there any way to tell the bios version with no display?
  3. I know how you feel. A buddy of mine recommended it to me so that I could use the gtx 460's in sli. I would stick around, but I don't have the time. I need this rig running so I can finish off this semester. Working my master's degree eats up my time. My other hobby is collecting pinball machines and I have several machines that I cannot touch right now due to school
  4. It has been a long time since I was on here, but a new build brings me new problems. I could use some advice if anyone can dole it out to an old member. My rig was not built for gaming. I am using it for maya mainly and everything you see was on sale when I got it. The problem is my new amd fx6100 build will not boot. I get error a5 from dr debug. Clearing cmos gives code 05 if I leave the jumpers set to clear, otherwise it reverts to a5. I get no display from any of the cards. If I remove the ram I get error 19. Specs Amd FX-6100 Asrock 970 Extreme4 4x4gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz (they are from two 12gb sets, I have tried using each stick individually) Earthwatts 750 psu (tested using my old rig) 2 x Galaxy 460 GTX (tested individually on my old rig and yes I know they are older, but at 160 for the pair it was hard to pass up. Also wanted cuda and physx for maya) 2 x 60 GB OCZ Agility 3 ssd (Still waiting on these. I am using an old sata 1 hdd in the interim) I have emailed asrocks tech support, but my problem is that the fx6100 was purchased at frys on black friday. The mobo is from newegg. If I wait too long I will have to rma the fx6100 through amd. Not sure frys has any 6100's in stock either which could make returning it now problematic since I got it at the sale price. Right now I am on a phenom with ddr2. I cannot test the cpu, ram, or mobo. I highly doubt 6 different sticks of ram are bad though. From what I gather the mobo could need a bios update, could be bad, or the cpu could be from a bad batch. Short of someone in the indianapolis area helping me out does anyone have any ideas?

    Psone Lcd

Starting a new project to make a wall mounted server of sorts and need a PSONE LCD screen. I am watching ebay at the moment but thought I would try here too while I wait. I do not care if it has already been modified so long as it still works.
  6. hardnrg the car ones are just too expensive for me. The psone screens can be had for 30 bucks off ebay. Also from what I have read you get a better picture with composite video from the pson screen then by doing it through vga.
  7. Alright I have been looking to mod a lcd into a mini itx case. At first I was going to just use the tried but true psone screen however I really would like widescreen. Anyhow the screens used for carputers are too expensive and I am not daring enough to buy the individual pieces to put a screen together so I have been looking at different screens for consoles. So far I am leaning toward the madcatz because of its size and the fact that it already has s-video. MadCatz Clicky Pelican also makes a screen but its Screen resolution is only 480 x 234 and has no composite video. Anyone have any thoughts as to whether I should go with madcatz or not?

    What Would Be Better

hmm why not him oral . for dummies? (or was it an idiots guide?) Either way my friend brought one to school one day and its a riot to glance through.
  9. Long time no see eh? If anyone does remember who I am itll be a surprise. I havent really messed with my comp in the past year or so but I have suddenly got a new interest. I read on my the klov forums that kmart clearanced the psone screens so yesterday a friend and I drove around. Of course they were all sold out butttt I decided i will get one off ebay. The purpose you ask? I plan on making a itx pc for about 300. I have an extra hd lying around but I want to try using a 1 gig cf card connected to the ide channel. Then of course I would mount the psone screen in the side of the case and see if I can run linux with it. (I say hope because I want to use composite video for the signal and most nvidia cards don't have that. also I do not know if I will be able to get the screen to even display with linux because to get it to run in windows you have to pull a trick or so I have read) Anyhow that means I might actualy be posting again although now that I am a bit older and am missing with things like linux (gentoo on my laptop), c++ (hoping to learn how to apply what I know to games via making a prototype on an older well documented engine, and being a senior doesn't leave me with much time compared to the past) Anyhow hullo all!
  10. Ok my mothers monitor crapped out and she wants a 19inch lcd. She wont game so response times dont matter. there is a fujitsu on newegg right now for 285 with a 50 dollar mail in rebate but i wanted to see what you guys suggested.
