kennethk Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 A 7950 should do you well as you wont notice a huge difference on ultra settings depending on what sort of set up you got - monitor wise.
SkytTe Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I'd get the Palit: http://www.proshop.dk/Grafikkort/Palit-GeForce-GTX-760-Jetstream-2GB-2423858.html I've always wanted a good Palit card, they seem to be so badass and still inexpensive over in europe... The only Palit card I've owned was a GT210 and that doesn't even come close to counting lol Thank you for your reply. So you agree that upgrading from 6870 to a 760 is a smart choice for me? Yeah, a 760 or a 7950 are both great choices. Since the 760 is much cheaper, I'd say get that. Both cards trade blows pretty evenly. Technically the 7950 is better but at a moderate resolutions like 1080P the vram deficiency on the 760 won't affect you. I think the 760 would be a good choice, and nividia has dropped the price so a great time to buy. Thank you for your replies. You seem to recommend the GTX 760 as well. The 7950 is just outside of my budget. Furthermore, I get AC4 Black Flag + Splinter Cell - Blacklist for free if I buy a 760. Yay A friend of mine told me that EA will update their drivers to a more AMD friendly version. Does anybody know if this is true, and if it has that much of a difference at all? Nyt Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 A friend of mine told me that EA will update their drivers to a more AMD friendly version. Does anybody know if this is true, and if it has that much of a difference at all? Its not a driver, its a brand new API by AMD : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantle_(API) Its not only BF4 that will use it, other Frostbite 3 games will also get this implemented And we'll only find out in December the exact performance gains. But it sounds like you already made up your mind on your 760, since everything better is out of your price range...

Since I got an old AMD 6870, it doesn't seem like this applies to me. Well, not completely. It just seems like the 760 is the best gpu in my price range at the moment. The AMD 7950 from XFX previously posted, doesn't really appeal to me, somehow :/
jimbo312 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 To be honest i would wait on buying a gpu until January after we see what kind of affect the new mantle api is gonna have on performance on BF4 for radeon cards. I'm somewhat in the same boat as you. I am currently running a GTX 550 TI and I can't decide at this point what I want to get for my system when I'm ready for an upgrade. Im wanting to go extremely high end so I'm thinking either a r9 290x or a gtx 780 ti depending on price/performance. Also like already said the game is still somewhat buggy and it will take a bit of time for gpu drivers to mature.

After reading that it's actually the game itself that's buggy, I've tried running on High video setting, which gives me an avg of 40 fps. I can live with that until January, I think
Braegnok Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) The HD 7950 sells for apx. $300, and the GTX 760 sells for apx. $290,..The HD 7950 has 50% more memory with a wider memory bus 384 vs 256 bit,.. they are both great cards but I would spend a few more dollars for the HD 7950 if your looking for higher fps in BF4. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-HD-7950-vs-GeForce-GTX-760 Edited November 4, 2013 by Braegnok

RedFury77 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Never heard of club brand before, but they do have other/cheaper 7950's on that site. 1580=$285USD for this one: http://www.proshop.dk/Grafikkort/Club-3D-Radeon-HD-7950-13-3GB-GDDR5-2421710.html Even a 7970 for about the price of the gtx760 you were looking at http://www.proshop.dk/Grafikkort/Club-3D-Radeon-HD-7950-13-3GB-GDDR5-2421710.html
