Meteora Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Hey guys i just started getting into the overclocking scene again, currently running my AMD Phenom II 955 BE at 3.8Ghz CPU VID 1.4375 NB VID 1.1000 Memory VDDQ 1.500 CPU VDDC 1.464 NB Core Voltage 1.100 CPU HT Voltage 1.200 I raised the Core Multiplier to x19 and the NB Multiplier to x12 i left the FSB Frequency at 200 and just bumped up the CPU Voltage. I've looked at many threads with different opinions, but i decided to start my own. Do you think i should raise any other voltage right now? I've been running Prime95 on Blend for 29 minutes now using AMD Overdrive to see CPU Temp and it appears its holding at 52.5 to 53C on all cores.. My goal is to get it to 4.0 but i cant seem to find a stable combo or a starting point to work from to get it stable at 4.0 Any input would be nice And sorry for posting if i missed a thread that covers this Im using an Arctic MX2 Thermal and a Coolermaster V8 for cooling inside of a HAF 932 with 3 230mm fans and 2 120mm fans Edited September 29, 2010 by Meteora
Meteora Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Just an update, been running Prime 95 Blend for almost a full hour now, still max temp is only 52, and has yet to fail a test yet
NearlyEpic Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Raise multiplier, test, tweak voltage if necessary, repeat. I don't really know a simpler way to say it. If it's stable, i don't see a reason to tweak the voltages. Edited September 29, 2010 by NearlyEpic
cery25 Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 raise multiplier to x19,5 , fsb to 203 and cpu v to 1,45 this is the max i can get from mine
IVIYTH0S Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Before we go on is that a C3 955? If not then you're at your max clock
Meteora Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Yeah sadly it is the C3, I lowered the CPU VID 1.4375 to 1.4.. As far as i can tell having it at 1.4375 did nothing but raise the temps. and i can run it stable at 1.4.... So yeah it appears max Overclock for this without serious cooling is 3.8 =/ Also the only voltage i changed at all was the CPU VID from 1.3500 stock to 1.4000 --- System Below -- AMD Phenom II 955 BE 3.2 (OC to 3.8) x19 CPU Multiplier x12 NB Multiplier raised stock CPU from 1.35 to 1.40 voltage, rest all auto/stock MSI 790GX-G65 Crossfire Ready MB XFX ATI Radeon HD 5870 x2 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1333 9-9-9-24 WD 320GB 16MB Cache SATA II x2 Raid 0 Coolermaster HAF 932 Full Tower (x3 230mm x2 120mm) Coolermaster V8 Cpu Cooler Coolermaster 800W GX Series PSU +80 Amp LED Blue Cold Cathode Tubes x2 Acer V233H 23" Widescreen x3 (Eyefinity Baby) Windows 7 Home 64 Edited September 29, 2010 by Meteora
IVIYTH0S Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 NO NO NO NO lol being C3 is a good thing, that means there's still hope! what speeds are your NB and HT link runnin at??
Drdeath Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) NB 2600-2700MHz Hypertransport 2000-2200MHz CPU/NB voltage 1.25-1.35V Vcore 1.45-1.55V depending on clock. 4.1Ghz will need close to 1.55V. Keep memory close to stock. Enable LLC You will need better cooling to get higher clocks. I got 3.8Ghz on default vcore. Yeah last night i did some experimenting with my clock at 4.0.... ran pretty hot, i had to keep the AC on in my office just to keep it in the 55-57 range.... It ran stable for about 2 1/2 minutes on Prime95 CPU VID 1.4750 NB 1.3750 x20 CPU Multiplier x14 NB Multiplier Kept stock ram settings Like you said i would need better cooling to go higher, i don't really doubt that at all. I went with the V8 because i'm kind of going with a coolermaster theme, Otherwise i probably would have used a Koolance water cooling kit, or the Corsair H50 The temps inside my computer are very low as it is with this much airflow, but the CPU could definitley use something more, Any suggestions? Meteora Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Little bit of an update still running it at 3.8 x19 CPU Multiplier 1.4000 , but i now havee my NB at x13 (2600) running at 1.2500 from x12 (2400) at 1.1000 Seems to be holding steady, kinda scared to go higher
