Rankiz Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 My non-overclocked i7 920 can reach 60-70 celsius with Noctua U12P, right after I start my comp it will be at 50.
hardnrg Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 that's very hot for non-overclocked... and is what I would expect for the stock heatsink or the NH-U12P running passively suggest you remount the heatsink
sdy284 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 +1 to what he said, thats why to hot for stock clocks on non-oem hsf
Rankiz Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I tho think I had to little thermal paste, some places I can catch a glimpse of the processor, the thermal paste is somewhat transparent.
Boinker Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Im pretty sure if you have any Questions on how to Properly apply TIM Arctic Silver has a video on how to use it and some intructons. The way I perfer to spead my TIM is with a razor. It removes all the excessive tim and evenly spreads it. Best case senario I hope It drops your temps down alot. cirro Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 make sure if your at stock your not using "AUTO" for CPU voltage. when i got my asus mobo, the bios had my voltages going way too high under 100% load. it would auto give my cpu around 1.35 to run prime95 (with HT on) thats a p*** poor estimate that resulted in way too high of temps for a brief period. The way I perfer to spead my TIM is with a razor. I've never had a issue with just putting a grain of rice sized blob in the center.. i can see some noob having an issue with a razor getting it all over and having something get somewhere it shouldn't, alot of thermal paste is conductive you may make it sound simple, but you've done it too many times
dling Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Artic silver 5 suggest that you run a small line down the middle of the cpu , not in line with the notches but going front to back.
R1P5AW Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 IDK if its the TIM or more along the lines of what cirro said. Check your voltages
Rankiz Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I got the NT-H1 thermal paste which followed the Nocuta fan. But have to little off it on my CPU, I think. I Might regreas it.

Rankiz Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 (edited) Should probibly check that with CPUz http://downloads.guru3d.com/CPU-Z-1.54-download-1340.html what progrem are you using to test for stability? Here is my voltage, is this high? Forgot to say, the voltage varies from 0.944 to 1.200. Testing stability? Never done before, got any tips on how to do this?
