Ringtail Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Could anyone help me out? A friend of mine has a very sluggish HDD, but luckily it still runs. He wants to clone it to a new drive (it's the primary). Can anyone lend how-to info on that?
The Smith Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I suggest you downoad the trial version of Acronis True Image. It will allow you to clone the drive to the new one.

WhenKittensATK Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Go to the hard drive manufacture's website. They usually offer a free software which you can use to backup/clone hard drives. If not a freeware one that comes to mine is HDClone.
Bizzlenitch Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Macrium Reflect also has a free version I just used to clone my primary drive to my new WD Black. It was pretty simple and worked brilliantly. Instructions are included on Macrium's website, and, as someone who had not previously cloned a drive, the process proved pretty straight forward. Phil Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Maxblast has never failed me. Are you sure the HDD is failing? If you've got malware there's not much point in cloning.
