thanks for the headsup on the x58 mobo. i switched it up. the "budget" build is still running me 1500 bucks. i need to trim a few more corners and still be able to game decently :( plz help me make this to just about 1k. i think i can lower the PSU a bit. i wanna SLI the 260's but dunno the minimum power needed.

Two 260's in SLI will be a rarely reached maximum of approximately 275W. You could drop the power supply to a good quality 550-600W unit without much trouble.

Edit: .... keep the Corsair TX750W it will give you some leeway and it's a great power supply for the money!

Cheers

the q6600 is the same price lol i duno why people still buy duos.

get the cheapest case you can find (that will hold SLI which is mid-atx). grab a different psu since corsair just sucks overall (in my views). grab a dvd drive and you got a computer for $800.

CPU: Q6600 $170

MB: GIGABYTE $150

Memory: OCZ reapers 8gb $80 with reabates

case: $50

PSU: $50-100 (depending on rebates)

keyboard and mouse: M$ mouse $20 Logitech G15 $40

HDD: 1TB seagate $100

2x Geforce 260s $400 ($200 each)

Total: $1100

First of all the duo's when overclocked own the Q6600 pretty badly. Second, Corsair is very good, keep the PSU(Not sure why anyone would say it sucks <_< )

And where did you find a Logitech G15 for $40? Also I wouldn't waste money on 8gb of memory, just go with 4gb. Also for the Harddrive I would go with the Samsung 500GB Spinpoint F1. I also don't know where you found GTX 260's for $200. And if you do get GTX 260's get the 55nm versions or the 216core version as they are better.
