Sharp Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 If it is going to be a 2x1GB kit, get PC4000. The new OCZ PC4000EB is very good. Crucial BallistiX PC4000, some people seem to be having problems with these

s10man69 Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 I was wondering, I have Kingston HyperX DDR400 1gb kit at 2-3-2-6 and Corsair XMS Platinum 1gb kit at 3-3-3-8 (i know, its horrible but i didn't know what i was doing when i bought them) and was wondering if either will work in the DFI LP nF4 Ultra-D. I searched the thread for hyper x, but found nothing on them, although I did see that it said they would not work in Sharps first post on the thread. Was wondering if anyone might have had any luck...thanks oh yea, I wouldn't be mixing and matching the kits, i already know about that.. Sharp Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Hello, Both kits may work, you have to try. And if they are a bit unstable play around with the memory timings in the BIOS.
RosieBoy Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 I have a question about choice of RAM. Im building myself a new rig, and these are my parts sofar: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D Opteron 146 ram.. i want 2 x 1024 pc4000. The only piece of ram that i've found sofar is the Corsair XMS 2048 or the Corsair TwinX 2048. I know that corsair is not on the list of rams, but was that because of the issues with getting it to boot? Or are there problems even after one has flashed to a newer bios? Will i have to go out of my way and order real expensive OCZ or some modules from abroad? (btw i live in sweden) Thx in advance, /Pelle
Squid1 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 The only piece of ram that i've found sofar is the Corsair XMS 2048 or the Corsair TwinX 2048. Please be more specific, there are several XMS kits and I think TwinX also has several 2 GB kits.

Squid1 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 All XMS3200XL modules are based Samsung TCCD IC's" There are no gigabyte sticks with TCCD. But yes I would avoid Hynix chips.
RosieBoy Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Roger that. I can get my hands on a pair of OCZ 2 x 1024 and it seems that's what i'll have to do. A bit more expensive, but oh well, that's how it is!
RosieBoy Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Well then, to continue my uncertainty.. I received a mail from one of the OCZ chaps, who pointed me in the direction of a place where i could find OCZ memories. But oh darn, there's 2 to choose from. And well, ofcourse, i can't really decide on which one to buy. OCZ 2048MB Dual Channel Platinum Edition PC-4000 2x1024MB (3-3-2-8) 500Mhz EB OR OCZ 2048MB Dual Channel Gold Ed. E.L. 2048MB-kit Dual Channel Gold 3-4-4-8 Now, they both cost the exact same. So.. then the Platinum are preferable, due to the lower timings? Or? Im confused to why the cost the same, as i was under the impression that lower timings were better Thx in advance! (oh my.. my system is gonna be wicked)
