Extreme Budget Build

So the in-laws computer is taking a dump they report that it blue screens 3-4 times a day. I can't get it to blue screen and I installed Win 7 and ran memtest86 + Prime95. Anyways the computer is from 2006 range. Intel Core 2 Duo E8300, 4GB of ram and I think a AMD 3850  (or close).  They just browse the web and play pop cap games all day.  Thats it, no movies, nothing, just web and web games.

what would be a good replacement? I was thinking like AMD FM2 and 8gb of ram. It has to be cheap because I buying it and they aren't playing me.

Any build ideas are welcome!

Go to bestbuy or walmart and grab whatever for $300 and call it done . You'll have a warranty and it will do what they want. If their old one is 2006 the only part you might salvage would be the case as the rest of it could stop working at any time. It's sad that you can buy a prebuilt cheaper then you can build a budget system these days.

This was going to be my rebuttal if the old system was truly a goner...I seem to remember a couple of you swearing by cheap prebuilts ruling the super budget range (for non-power users)

yeah it has just as many problems after a new installation of windows.  I know pre-built is cheaper but not by much and you get really cheap parts and off brand stuff. The reason why I rather build it also is I have a copy of windows, extra ram and a hard drive laying around. So the only real parts I need is a motherboard, cpu and power supply.

The other option is a to get a pre-built itx on newegg.

I saw an all in one APU soldered E1-2100 and mobo combo for like $40 the other day! Sadly they were all sold out, I probably would have bought one just because haha (even though it'd be weaker in some ways than my HTPC's E-350)

Unless maybe you wanna buy my E-350, if you aren't afraid of used :)
