loggan26 Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 I got some nice advice from my last question so here's another, as the titles says. What do you use firewall wise and why? I been using ZA for a few years, was wondering what you all thought was better etc.
PC1X1 Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 ZA is good, Norton is good, AVG is good, McAffe is good, but nowadays a FW will only get you protected to a certain extent, but choosing most likely a Norton and or AVG.

Angry_Games Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 NAT hardware firewall (Netgear) i refuse to use software firewalls (tho ZoneAlarm is what i would use if i was going to use one)
Guest Tmod Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 I am using ZA with Anti-virus. Also using NAT router. Have heard of several horror stories with people using Norton and removing it once the virus took over. Norton doesn't want to leave. loggan26 Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 No i used Norton products over 2000 to 2002 and will not go back to them, they are bloated and as you say difficult to remove. Yeah forgot to say i use Nat router firewall but also use software FW, specially on Lappy as it aint alway hooked up to the router . ZA gets thumbs up then? wodan Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5.5. Been using it for roughly 2 years now and love it to bits. I've found it to be very secure.
Guest Tmod Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5.5. I used to run that and I would pick that one second to ZA. I believe it is also free for personal use. Tmod

Smoken Joe Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Norton does suck. Router is the best hope this one lasts longer than the linsys.

red930 Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Norton is difficult to remove and bloaty. But, I have to say that is does a fairly decent job of keeping the unwanteds out, as long as you keep it up to date. I do prefer to use a NAT along with freeware AntiVir and ZA if I know the customer is going to be hitting a few pr0n sites.
