DFI Recommended Power Supplies (UPDATED October 20th, 2006!)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, what about the new Ultra X2 550w dual rail psu.. From all the reviews I've read they've tested with DFI boards and all the connectors plugged in and it is extremely stable even on overclocked and SLI systems. ?? (3000+ @ 2.7, 2x7800GTs, 2 raptors etc)

FPS has a reputation for building very good power supplies.

That unit exceeds all of the DFI recommendations so you should be good to go for a while.

LOL Just noticed in the specs at the bottom of the page that rail 12V3 is missing. Does that mean it has 3 or 4 12V rails? LOL

I was blind before reading this forum ,and purchased this one:http://www.fsp-group.com/english/1_product...id=54&proid=156

According to my current system needs, and my plans of buying an opty175, does this psu deserve a good kick out of my tower?

It has 4 12V rails and i'm afraid that it doesn't combine them to deliver enough Ampere power.15A unique on each line just suck badly.I'm going to change it.

Q:

May have been answered already..but I missed it.

Is the Seasonic 500W on the recommended list? I know that its on the first post, but the dividing of the sections makes it seem like that its not 'fully recommended', but only recommended because its silent.

Which is it?

third time in a row i ask, but is this PSU good or does it have some issue? (i mean, the TT 680 looks good, but it's not, the enermax liberty has some issues with ultra-d, stuff like that)

http://store.ekm.com/epta58u22pos.html

i was planning to upgrade my rig to dfi nf4 sli-dr with a dualcore opty and a 6600GT. the rest stays.

Check the reccomended list. If it's not there, don't get it.

Per Specs posted, it ought to work, but apparently the folks testing have seen enough so that some of these that qualify on pure specs (12v dual rails with enough wattage) fail to achieve a stable system on even non OC systems, due to things like ripple, etc. Either be prepared to do your own rigorous testing and chance having to buy another unit or (worse) dx'ing your mobo or memory -- OR take advantage of the untold manhours already expended in testing and pick from the list. Unless, of course, you can persuade DavidHammock220 (on ExtremeOC forum) or Angry Games (on this forum) to do the testing for you.

yeah, that's the problem living in argentina, ocz's are very hard to get and if you ever see a PC&PC, well there must be a cow flying somewhere. in any case, tagan is listed as "known good quality and low cost PSU's) (not that the 580W is cheap, costs the same as a powerstream 520 here 225 usd), and i'll risk it. i'll just have to use the school's 'scope and power resistors to really test the psu (shame the warranty here does not work...)
