LightningJR Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 I heard places around the net that the Q6600 was difficult to overclock, is this so? If you were to have an EVGA 680i or DFI 680LT and using Thermalright's Ultra 120 Extreme what would be possible? I know there are MANY more variables but just hypothisize. In good and bad circumstances what Ghz would a person expect? I was hoping maybe 3.6Ghz.
J-Stew Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 The original stepping (B2 i think) has a TDP of 130W so at 1.55V it can hit about 3.33Ghz at around 100 degrees C. If you get the new G0 stepping with a lower TDP of 95W it will more than likely hit 3.6 on air Custom PC review
kingdingeling Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Paired with a DFI 680i LT and the Ultra 120 Extreme, you should be getting around 3.4-3.6 GHz outta that thing
