  1. Ive been meaning to get a temp gun. I guess this is a good excuse.
  2. I tryed HWiNFO and it says it's Aux.. What is aux....
  3. Thanks everyone, good to know. On a side note. Anyone know of an alternate program to HWMonitor. Would the paid version be more compatible? AIDA64 seems to work fine but it's a full fledged program, plus it doesn't have some readings that hwmonitor has.
  4. lol. maybe. I thought it could be VRM temps be cause at that time I was running 4.9Ghz 1.4V plus the load on the GPU.. My mobo isn't an expensive one. 4+1 Power I do believe and that kind of OC with the GPU being at near 100%... but idk... maybe you're right. Does the VRMs usually have a temp reading?
  5. Does anyone know what TMPIN1 is referring to in HWMonitor? 113C worries me. IDK if it's a false reading or not... Speedfan shows a temp like it as well and they call it "Temp2" I checked in AIDA64 and there's no such temp that high. As you can tell HWMonitor don't properly read my voltages.. neither does speedfan, but AIDA64 does. I'm thinking AIDA64 is the correct program but I have to make sure. I need help from the OCC community.
  6. I do apologise about this but I'm concerned that my 212+ will be too close of a competitor to any of these coolers to merit their $50 price.... It will cost ~$40 more for a Silver Arrow which is a guaranteed improvement with silence. With my new case on it's way I shouldn't have any issues with installing.. I can't afford it NOW but in about a week I should. Thanks for all the help. I guess it seems if you have the 212+ with dual high cfm, high quality fans the only real improvement will be something in the $70+ bracket. The Havik-140 is $70.15 tax/S&H included. That would be my first choice to replace the 212+. If I had access to the Macho though I would probably get it since it's great and quiet and can get even better with dual fans.
  7. I have no idea what you're talking about... My vcore is set to 1.255 in the bios. At idle I get 1.254v in cpuz. When running linx/prime95 the voltage drops to ~1.236. What you see in the pime95 screenie is the voltage moving back to 1.254 FROM 1.236. In the linx screenie it shows the voltage at no load RIGHT after I stoppe dit and the voltage stabilized again.. Eveything in the BIOS for throttling/pstates/power saving is OFF. Unless the BIOS is doing it something I know nothing of these screenies are exactly what they look like. 4.5Ghz @ 1.255V 30min prime, 5 passes MAX linx. I know it's not 3hrs of prime stable but you also said "not possible" 30min of prime is "perfectly possible" unless I have the best 2500k in the world.. soooo sceptical you are.. I have nothing to hide.. and I get no enjoyment from faking it..
  8. There's a $7 increase if I were to choose to get the Kuhler. Yes. I agree and will look for dual fan Kuhler 620s. Great conversation.
  9. First image. Blend Crap... I just realized I'm hijacking the thread.. Or am I?
  10. It's possible then but I was thinking about normal circumstances. With ambient temps at normal living conditions 18-22C. It's not possible. I'm stressing blend prime now at 4.5Ghz 1.255. I'll do linx after. Don't worry.. You'll get screenies (if i'm successful, that is)
  11. You never know.. Especially with the MOST popular sites. The ones that get the most hits.. This is where people go to make their choices... but that's off topic.. I understand that there are alot of factors. I just can't remember it being this bad.. When I bought the 212+ over a year ago I never had a doubt in my mind. Reviews spoke for themselves. This calibre cooler for 29.99... couldn't be beat. Now, it's not so easy.. well.. maybe it is.. LOL ...................macho........................... lol There's a $7 increase for the Kuhler. Still within budget. I believe it may be more db less than that if i'm not mistaken. Plus the opportunity to increase performance even more by adding another fan.
  12. 50C max? Now THAT'S not possible.... (on a 212+ that is)
  13. The OCC community was always the best. It was like it back when I first joined in 2003 and still is to this day. There's always someone to help and answer your questions. Have fun OCing, I remember first when I started OCing it was soo exciting and also terrifying.
  14. Yes. It seems like all of the coolers are very similar in performance. I'm looking for the one that generates less noise. As I said, if the A70 can get those temps at 51db then and my current 212+ is only 5-7C worse at 38db then it may not be a matter of HS performance but just fan cfm. I don't want to buy a $40 cooler and find out I simply bought better fans.. If the 620 has the same performance but with a db level of 34 then I know I'm getting a better cooler not just higher cfm fans. I'm not determined to get the Kuhler, I just don't see a better alternative. The Macho and TS 140 are great, both are a bit better than the 620 and A70 and both are quieter AND both can have dual fan configs to increase performance even further. It's just too bad I don't have access to such things.. But I have to get past that I wish reviews were more consistent, I can't be sure of the the conclusions I wrote above because of it and I can't seem to find a cooler that is. There are variables in each review that makes them show highly inconsistent results either that or some reviewers are falsifying their numbers. I guess I'm asking too much of the internet.. lol. I had hoped some people would also post what temps they're getting with their 2500K and their cooler. But haven't got any. So my choices are the Kuhler 620 or the A70. I'm leaning towards the Kuhler because of the reasons stated above. Other suggestions are welcome. Are the old school Zalmans any good? CNPS9500? etc?
  15. lol. yeah I read it right... I guess after reading all the reviews I SOMEHOW remembered D14, instead of macho/ts140.. But my point still stands.. the macho uses thermalrights amazing 140mm fan that's not even close to the A70s dual 120s.. it may be 1C difference in temps but that's with the A70 on high.. and that's even debatable. LOL! I was just trying to be informative without being insulting. just in case you didn't know alberta was west.. You never know.. (posting this would have been funny though... ----> LOL! but im not mean. This has me intrigued http://www.funkykit.com/component/content/article/8636-review-antec-kuhler-h2o-620-cpu-cooler.html?start=3 He has a 2600K.. the temps are "above ambient" Temps between a 2600K and a 2500K can't be too much. I'm gonna do the 4.3Ghz @ 1.35V and do prime to see what I get.
  16. LOL. Actually my profile is wrong. I did live there but not any more. Plus Alberta is west. That's a nice price. I don't like MIR... But not to worry, take a look. Free ground shipping $8.99 Ground Shipping/$10.99 Express Shipping Pricing is not a problem with this cooler. Well within budget. I looked through lots of reviews. Nothing's changed... LOL. Sill mixed all around. Most reviews say on high it's loud just not ear shattering. Not within ~1db of the D14. Another review using a 300cfm fan only improving the temps by 3C.... no room from improvement if it's only a couple of degrees better than 212+..... I find this strange. I never read all three of the reviews I am about to link but can someone tell me why the load OC temps of the 212+ is 77C on one review and 72C on another? Was the 212+ retested and got better temps??? Does that mean I can't compare coolers from one review to the next? ARG... http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xigmatek_dark_knight/4.htm http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/coolermaster_hyper_212_plus/4.htm If 72C is correct for the 212+ with just one fan then the A70 may only barely beat it. I don't know if I should just get it and see and hope for the best... or just get the Kuhler 620, which I know is quiet and can be improved with more/higher cfm fans. Any more suggestions?
  17. Hehhe yeah as do I which has lead me on a wild goose chase. lol I'm in the province furthest east. Doubtful you'll be visiting here I must has forgotten to post this. I did search for the TS 140 as per a reply earlier and also could not find it. Some good news? XD I'm going to read EVERY review of it now. AGAIN. lol...
  18. Yeah great review. I also noticed you reviewed the Corsair A70 I only look at one graph and that's "Load Overclocked" because that's all that really matters to me. But one area where I need some info is noise levels, which is something you don't measure/include in your reviews. The 612 may compete with the NH-D14 neck to neck but the 612 may be at 70db where the NH-D14 is only 45db.. db measurement shows the efficiency of the HS, it eliminates the fans as a variable. I don't doubt that your reviews are legit, this IS OCC but I need db measurements. A little off topic but whatever. It does look like the A70 is the better HS/F though if you compare the temps, plus being cheaper.
  19. thanks for in informative posts guys. I guess you trust xbit then Premium? I like them. All of you have great options. I'm here frantically looking through websites that I can buy from to see if any of it's available and within price range. I'm from Canada so those rebates doesn't apply to me. I'm having a difficult time find much selection in Thermalright throughout Canadian stores. The Macho looks to be a GREAT cooler and it would be my number one choice especially that on amazon it's only $40. What a great price for that calibre cooler, even up here in Canada it wouldn't cost any more than $50 which is perfect. Too bad it's impossible to find... I was referring to the Frio not the OCK version. The OCK version isn't whthin budget. If the OCK competes with the Kuhler 620 then for $46 free shipping wouldn't it be a good choice? I read reviews saying it was very quiet as well. If I were to strap 2 higher RPM fans on it it could potentially cool GREAT. (not buying the fans, I have some ) The 612 looks to be a pretty good cooler but a little loud. This would make me think that it's only good because of the fans and that my 212+ may come within a couple of degrees if it had the same fans.. This is also the concern with the Corsair A70 and the EVGA superclock. Strap a delta on the 212+ and BOOOYAHHH custom water temps LOL Joking aside though the 612 is at the higher end of budget then it's the Superclock then the A70 (which is actually quite cheap [$39 shipping ncluded]) I'm still a little stuck on what to do. The Antec is looking better and better as time passes. The Havik is over budget.. Very nice cooler though.. As I said Thermalright's are hard to come by here. It seems like the Silver Arrow is in stock but NOTHING else is.... it's too bad since Thermalright is clearly the brand at the top...
  20. Thanks for the replies guys. Yea it's difficult to get a better performing cooler with a tight $50 budget but this cooler is showing it's age there must be SOME out there. I also understand that reaching 5Ghz may not be possible and that the difference in performance between 4.5 - 4.8Ghz is marginal. I enjoy overclocking and will be pushing this CPU to it's limits but just for pure satisfaction.. I would like to get 4.6 - 4.8Ghz stable for everyday use.. If I can't then I would be happy with 4.5Ghz. But despite all of this getting a more efficient, quieter running CPU cooler is a plus no matter if you're running overclocked or stock. If I can get a $50 cooler that can decrease load temps of an OCed 2500k by 7-12C then great. OK enough explaining myself.. LOL. Thanks for the suggestions PremiumAcc.. I will be researching them now. Does anyone have any opinions about MY suggestions/opinions in the original post?
  21. I recently upgraded from an AMD Athlon X3 440 to an i5-2500k and I need a new cooler. I love to overclock, I had the X3 unlocked and overclocked to 3.6Ghz using a CM Hyper 212+. Temps were fine with this setup but the little Athlon has nothing left to offer. I had this 2500K at 4.7Ghz with 1.3V and the temps reached a boiling 78C in IBT (max) and that's only after 5min so who's to say that it's even ENOUGH voltage long term.. I read that max temps are 72.3C and that 80C is threshold so a new HS/F is in order. I've spent too many hours searching the internet on coolers... I was going to get the best.. NH-D14 or Silver Arrow (or even the Phanteks PH-TC14PE depending on availability) But my measly case (Rosewill Blackbone) doesn't have the interior space to house such monsters. So I've decided to get a new case. I choose the CM 690 II Basic. It's a great case with lots of space and features at the right price. Obviously now I still need a CPU cooler but because I'm getting a new case I don't have the funds for a $90+ CPU cooler. Now I have to find a sub $50 cooler that performs better than my current 212+.... I was looking at the A70 but reviews are mixed. Some places say it's up there near the NH-D14 and some others not so much.. Then if I search other forums where people asking if the A70 is better then the 212+ the general consensus is NO or BARELY. IDK what to get.. I want something that's significantly better then my 212+ but I only have $50 to spend. I need some help. All suggestions welcome. UPDATE OK, so I did a little more research and would the Scythe Mine 2 be a good choice? I'm betting with two extra (or even one) 120mm fans mounted on this heatsink it could compete with the best and at $49. Or maybe a TT Frio? UPDATE I can also get the Antec Kuhler H20 620 for just $46. How would IT compare to the Frio or Mine 2? P/P dual fan would improve it even more.
  22. thanks, but I have not given up just yet . The stock clocks are 575 Core, 700 (1400) Memory, I had the core at 700Mhz for 9hr burn in no errors, I went to 750Mhz but never did a burn in... basically 6min... but it seems, from what ive read, with the volt mod this gpu can reach 800Mhz core. Im not sure why this happened but I think I may do a dos flash next.. I did dos flashes before and this never happened.
  23. A quote from their support FAQ, so should I look further? Q Do I need to update BIOS for the display card like mainboards? A Because the components on display card are fixed, it is totally unnecessary to regularly update the BIOS of display card. Mainboard may need to update BIOS for its compatibility with new CPU, DRAM, peripheral devices, and etc. Display card BIOS updates are required only for bug fixing or other special cases. It happens rarely. Please note, we do not suggest users to update BIOS with image files that are available on Internet. It is highly likely that those image files are not compatible with your display card at all; and your display card may not work any more after such update. You would void the warranty of display card at the same time.
