Sure rally racing is grueling and unpredictable, but does it really require more skill then F1??? I dont see how ~80mph in an awd car on a dirt road takes more reflexes and driving skill then ~200mph on narrow winding roads o.O. If you have driven in the 150+mph range you know what I mean...road narrows, and every little movement is multiplied by what seems like hundreds of times.

I guess everyones definition of "skilled driving" is different though :P I think of reflexes and such while some may think of endurance and navigation :). Both forms of racing are impressive and well beyond the realm of a normal driver though :D

how about doing ~80mph on the same width road... in snow?

I'm not downplaying F1 @ all, its worlds ahead of nascar. But those guys know the course they're running, they've run it dozens of times. Rally drivers get a map (and maybe a test run, i'm not sure)

Nascar = driving in an oval for a couple of hours... extremely interesting and hard to drive .... <_<

Dude Nascar it is a predetermined the path. They know where they are going. Rally is way different and unpredtictable. If any of the Nascar drivers do the rally, you will find them is last place.

well you have to remember that F1 cars are specialized.

a rally car MUST BE ROAD LEGAL! there in itself lies the first challenge. I've driven in that speed range, and unless you have naff steering, I don't see how it became harder control. if anything, it tightens up which i didnt find was any more sensitive than at 70mph. depends on what the car is designed for...F1 - sheer downforce and grip. rallying? everything really.

the sheer number of changing elements in rallying just supercedes that of F1. do you see a safety car in rallying? nah! what happens if you crash in rallying? you get out and turn your car over YOURSELF (with a bit of spectator help). what happens if you get a flat? you change the wheel - YOURSELF!! i love it!
