w0w* Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Hi i just registered here. This isnt my first time to these forums since i check here everyday on people's problems and what not. I just wanted ur opinions on my wire management. I know i dont have sata which would have helped me ALOT in wiring but here it goes. I also wanted to know if i should get an external enclosure to take the hard drive out of my case or to suspend the hard drive in my 5.25 drive cage. If u think i should suspend it in my 5.25 bay, I was also wondering where can i find some long IDE cables. U can c in my pic that the length from my board to my hard drive is short but long from my hard drive to my cd drive. Any comments are welcome 8)
gunak87 Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Wires? I don't see any wires. Nice job there. There's all kinds of cables at newegg.com, give it a look. Don't get an external enclosure. And welcome to OCC!
anthony Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Just a question, whats the wire comming out of the case? (ref pic) Green: Fold the cable, so it is creased that way it will look cleaner, put this underneath the 20 pin connector Red: I can't tell from the pic, but if it isnt behind the 3.5" drive bay, move it there
w0w* Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Heres another angle to help u guys get a better idea of the ide cable i have to work with. The folding thing is a great idea but the problem is its too short :\ Also, i was wondering if anyone has seen someone velcro or somehow place the hard drive onto the case on the right of the moatherboard so that its cover was facing outside. I was thinking about doing that but i dont know how i would go about keeping the drive in place. Ill look for a picture so u guys know what im talkin about
gunak87 Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 You should be able to find velco strips at Wal-Mart or some hobby store. I looks like your hard drive and CD-Rom are one the same cable. I'm not 100% sure that's a bad thing, but I wouldn't think it's good. Maybe another member can shed some more light on that. You could always get a rounded cable, or make that one round. w0w* Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 I did have round cables, but for some reason using em would cause my computer to freeze and reboot on its own so i gave it to a friend. I found a picture of a guy registered here with the hard drive idea im thinkin of doing. How would i go about doing this? HoLoDreaM Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 (edited) beautiful setup.. nice management, you're lucky you dont have a bunch of fans, cold cathodes, 6800ultra or any high end card, and the +12V 4-pin connector on your mobo... the more you buy the more wires you have to hide i wish mine could look that clean.. but its almost impossible now EDIT: wait i think i can see a cold cathode? i dont even see its wires except for a small tiny bit.. impressive Edited May 29, 2005 by HoLoDreaM

bigr5026 Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 nice wire management, i envy those skills also, you have a coolermaster heatsync right, i took that one off my hp, just a tip, get a 60 to 80 mm adapter and also, lap thet hs/f. If you are going to put a high end viddy card in thare, be careful, i hope you would not have to have a powercable coming out, but knowing this job, you might find a very creative way of doing so
w0w* Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 (edited) no i have the stock amd xp heatsink i just found a ghetto way to put an 80mm on there. O ya and i just got my evga 6600gt so im gonna have to find another way to hide my wires even better this time. i have some ideas for the hard drive mount but would it be dangerous to cover the bottom of a hard drive with aluminum and then velcro it on because im thinking velcro on the underside of my hard drive would not be a good idea Edited May 29, 2005 by w0w*
