Cyberbeer Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 My 6600GT should be here within the next day or two. I was curious as to what drivers I should download for it? Any suggestions would be both helpful and appreciated as I have never owned an NVidia card before.
CmpFreak88 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Guru3d has 71.24 betas out and they're great. Really helped my overclock stability and benchmarks.
InvaderTrax Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I had a good experience with the 66.xx (whatever's the latest on nVidia's site). Much better than when I tried the 4x.xx's
trace Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 i have 66.93 but my friend says HL2 runs better with the 71.xx
Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I run the 71.24's and they're great...no complaints at all. But really, nvidia drivers are always fantastic...you can't go wrong with anything from the 66.xx series and newer.
r_target Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I'm using 71.20, probably going to try out 71.xx newer ones soon. 66.93 and 66.81 are good too. I guess you'd probably want some pretty new ones for a 6600GT.
gravy Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 the 71.20's caused reflection errors in cs:s on de_aztec on the gravel/dirt part at the bottom around the water and on some tiles on another map, so i went to the 67.03's, haven't really noticed a difference in the 67.03's compared to the 66.93's, but i havent done any benchmarking since, just gaming a little
GregP24 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 71.20b Extreme G drivers from Valance Studios are my favorites. I lost points in the benchies with the 71.24 and 71.40 drivers.
r_target Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 How's the IQ on Extreme G?
tharealmegaman Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 i had artifacting issues with the 7x.xx's i tried. with the 66.93's, i got the clock higher and stable. when i used to use a fx5500, the opposite was true, however. Celcius Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I'd just use the latest drivers from nvidia's website.
