Siebenburgen Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 yeah i think that the 10,000 rpm will be a much bigger boost in performance... and i like things to load really fast
HomerJaySimpson Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Are you getting the 36gb or the 74?
jammin Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 You may find that the extra RAM will increase you performance more if you use alot of memory intensive programs (which are alot more common these days). I don't think it particularly matters what you buy first though, each of them will be an investment you should be able to use in future systems. Agallion Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Ram would be more important impo
r_target Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Ram would be more important imho Definitely the RAM. No matter how fast that drive is, it's not faster than RAM. Games load faster with 1GB of RAM than 512 too.
Siebenburgen Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 its the 74 gb one but you guys do raise some good points... i heard ram was good for games like battlefield 1942 and big games like that.. but i mostly play MOHAA and doom 3.. and im gonna get halflife 2.. if that ever comes out
jammin Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Doom 3 and HL2 will most likely benefit greatly from that extra RAM as well.. Doom is certainly a memory intensive game. I think in most new games twice your current RAM will make a noticeable difference.
