oralpain Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 (edited) Though I've useually bought Abit or Asus I've had a pritty good experience with AOpen and Chaintech socket 754 boards. If you are not overclocking the NF-250 or K8T800/K8T800Pro would be fine for a chipset. The NF3-250 has working locks so is better for overclocking. Sepending on what you are doing with it, the claw hammer or newcastle could be faster at the same price. Something like lots of cache, others prefer a higher clock. Special considerations must be taken if you get a mobile, for the same stock speed they are more expensive than the desktops. The do not have a heatspreader so many heatsinks will not work with them without modding it or the mounting bracket. Also, many baords do not work correctly with the mobiles at all, others need a BIOS flash, wich can be a hard thing to do if you don't have a non-mobile chip to flash with. Mobiles do OC well and the low power one run EXTREMELY cool stock. At default speed with my chip I can pasively cool it with no problems. It's 1.2v/35 watts, stock. Course mine runs warmer with a 724Mhz OC... Edited July 18, 2004 by oralpain
