cchalogamer Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 (edited) My understanding is that the adapters don't do well with folding, but honestly I have two adapters and no need for them currently and haven't tested it. Also being an Intel desktop platform I'm not sure how the lack of cores would work out with folding liking to use a full thread per GPU WU, not sure the performance hit (if any) if you "overload" the CPU side of GPU folding. road-runner Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 That is what I read also that they dont do well at all with folding but great for mining
ARandomOWL Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Folding suffers more performance loss from decreased PCIe bandwidth than mining does. Here is a thread on the topic: https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=28847

Here is a thread on the topic: https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=28847 It does-ish. I saw no difference running a 1080Ti on 4x PCIE 2.0. 1X for sure cuts folding down. Maybe once PCIE 4.0 comes out, people can use 1x for folding.
