road-runner Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Might as well use some up while the price is up. I never got the 8 core broadwell moved into my main rigs place I just built. Maybe I cant get this one moved as main rig this winter. Hard to move when the old x58 980x is still working fine.... I am not sure that cooler will keep it cool if not I have some water cooling stuff...
ccokeman Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 As long as you are not hitting the CPU hard an AIO should do ok. Even at stock speeds it does well with an AIO.
road-runner Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I ordered the Noctua NH-D15S 140mm SSO2 D-Type Premium CPU Cooler is what I was gonna try first
xenkw0n Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 The NH-D15S is a top of the line air cooler - It will keep that processor just as cool as most AIO's.

I think it will do well enough, I dont like worrying about a water leak or pump failure.. I dont really overclock much any more if I was going to do all that I would drag out the cascade or LN2 pot...
xenkw0n Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 You're upgrading from a 6900k? The only time I'll go water cooling is if it's a custom loop. If you already got it and it fits the motherboard, it will work great.

I do have custom loop if needed but gonna try the air cooler first..
