GreatWhiteBoy Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I've had my AMD Phenom X2 550 Black Edition on 3.2ghz and unlocked 4 cores for a LONG time now on STOCK cooling. Ready to make an UPGRADE to a better heatsink. I would really like to see my CPU break +4.0GHZ. THX.
red1776 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I am going to assume you are not including closed loop water? if thats the case: This is the king of the hill http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17258/cpu-tri-90/Thermalright_Silver_Arrow_SB-E_Extreme_Dual_Fan_Universal_CPU_Cooler_Sockets_775_1156_1366_2011_AM2_AM2_AM3_AM3_FM1.html?tl=g48c373s966 I misread the CPU you are cooling, This would work well for the x 2 550 http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=2923&product_name=Hyper%20212%20Plus
Waco Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Anything that works well on a Phenom II X4 will work great on an unlocked X2.
ohldboy Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Cooler Master 212 EVO is the "go to" budget air cooler under $50. Phantek has some interesting reviews http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100008000%2050060115&IsNodeId=1&name=Phanteks%20Company

IVIYTH0S Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Just get the EVO, anything more than that isn't worth it considering the platform your're running.
GreatWhiteBoy Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) EVO by Cooler Master was the choice ALL Along, I just didn't know if my MID TOWER ATX CASE would be able to squeeze a 120cm Heatsink. I am using the CMStorm Scout MID ATX now. I might be able to do the Cooler Master 92cm as well. With the purchase of an additional 92cm fan or a 120cm fan depening on which will fit. ThermalRight is a watercooling system that could or would be interesting, if I had an NXRT or an inWinGROne FULL TOWER Case. Appreciate the advice. PS. Wow, i just noticed that Thermal Right is a BEAST. I wonder if it's worth, the double the cost price, compared to the Cooler Master Evo. Will research, however, won't be able to guarantee a purchase of that ThermalRight 154cm BEASTSINK. I already recognize how Mazing the Zalman Cooling is for Graphics Cards GPUs. Thoughts.... Cooler Master Evo 212 vs. Zalman (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118046) The Cooler Master 212 Evo is around the exact SAME price as this Zalman, IF you purchase an XTRA 120mm fan 4 the Cooler Master, which, is what everyone does anyway. Only difference, is that Zalman, is just a HAIR more difficult to put on your CPU with the CLAMPING process, although, sheez, the Zalman, sure is beautiful. and now we CAN recycle Pennies bettur. let me know, if I should bump this as an independent topic.
