Just don't be boosting hard in a last few mind of your drive. yes that's exactly what i'm doing atm, but it's when in a hurry and being forgetful sometimes i'm worried if i or somebody else uses the car(brother would be) just shut off the engine so sudden. Took all the wheels off -- scrubbing off the last remnants of the green plastidip (all stuck behind the lugs and all over the backs of the wheels). That was OHHHHHHHHHHHH so fun. Blah. BluePanda Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Ok... So... here we go Yesterday I cleaned up the wheels removed the last remnants of the green dip. There was a lot more overspray on the inside of the wheels -- was too messy to take a picture at the time. . Even cleaned up they still looked as gross as I remembered. A drip of black paint on one from the last owner, and just general beat-to-hell-ness from someone who clearly didn't know what a CURB was. Today I spent more time cleaning, and recruited waco for a good bit of that too. Scrubbed with purple power to get any grease off and scuffed em up with some scratch pads. Then we broke out the power sander. I love that thing -- I can't wait to take it to the body of the car again (oops that's a spoiler). But, waco wanted to have the fun this time...he got rid of allllll those nasty chips. We do have an older power sander so it was pretty hard to navigate the smaller areas, so unfortunately some of the curb rash resides. BUT - the part you see most is WAY better looking. Then it was time for paint!!! Waco is well quite a bit more practiced at the spray thing -- so I let him go at it again. haha. Starting with the back of the wheels we used the old index card trick (for the first time really). Worst case it was the back of the tire if it didn't work... I had him intentionally leave the centers unpainted. My hubs distroy paint in that region for a start, and it also didn't matter if it had paint, I'll NEVER see there... I think they came out looking pretty bad ass -- can't wait to do the fronts tomorrow!! YAY!! "NEW" wheels!!! Oh and the index cards actually worked quite well. He's well, a little better at painting than me. lol edit: Hanging off the car...lol. No lugs...still drying a bit. BUT SEXY!!!
