Nyt Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I just found something quite amazing, in anything non-BF and non-Futuremark two normal non-Ti GTX560's are on par or just a little below single GTX680 performance at 1080p And the GTX560 SLI beat the HD7970 in quite a few games at 1080p Maybe I only need two GTX560's in SLI ? My MSI GTX560 1Gb Twin Frozr cost me around R1900 in SA currency and a second would total around R3800 is SA currency while the GTX680 is priced from R6000 for a MSI up to R7000 for an ASUS GTX680 . If you do the math ... Thats around at least a 58% increase from the price of GTX560 SLI and for the ASUS, its an 84% increase from the price of the GTX560 SLI I dont see a 58% to 84% increase in performance to compensate the price

A single overclocked HD 7970 3GB will beat two overclocked GTX 560 Ti's in SLi at 1920 x 1200. Throw in extreme tessellation and they get beat even further. Waco Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Just like an old ATI 9800 XT will destroy many newer cards in 2D acceleration...but we can all agree it's not actually faster in anything recent.

And I would have Twin frozr models which are quieter. Overall, you cant deny the GTX560 SLI performance ...
Waco Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Overall, you cant deny the GTX560 SLI performance ... Are you trying to justify it for us or for yourself?

Waco Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Both ways, it deserves respect Yet my old Quadfire setup (which pretty much demolished most newer cards in DX10 and lower stuff) didn't? Anyway - a single GTX560 should hold you over till you grab a 680. You know it'll happen.
Coors Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 So to recap...you went from SLI 580s to CFX 6970s to CFX 7970s and now to SLI 560s?

Nyt Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Yet my old Quadfire setup (which pretty much demolished most newer cards in DX10 and lower stuff) didn't? If it did in DX11 stuff like the 560 SLI then yes Anyway - a single GTX560 should hold you over till you grab a 680. You know it'll happen. Yeah only one 560 atm, but a 2nd might not be far off since Im thinking of skipping the GTX680 since I know I'll want GK110 and pretty much nothing will be able to stop me then
