Black Ice vs. XSPC

The XSPX RX 360 specs:

- 410x125x58.5mm (HxWxD)

- <8fpi

 

Black Ice GTX Extreme 360 specs:

- 397x133x54mm (HxWxD)

- 20fpi

 

My three questions:

1) Does the 2.25x increase in fpi mean the GTX will yield much better heat transfer results?

2) Would the GTX be significantly louder than the RX?

3) Would the Gentle Typhoon 120mm fan (1,850 RPM) work well with either of these radiators?

Quite simply, the higher fin density rad will cool better. The idea that the rad makes the system loud is sort of misunderstood concept. The higher fin density only adds a little noise but what really makes the noise is the fans. A higher fin density usually means more powerful fans to push air through the smaller spaces, and between the faster fan speed, and the louder motor, it starts to add up to a lot of noise. HOWEVER, since you have some premo fans that are quiet and push a lot of air at the same time, I do not think you would notice a lot of difference. If you can find the cash for it, I would say that you are fine with the higher fin density rad.

A 3930K on an Asus Sabertooth X79, sorry for the lack of info. Will be running a MCP655 so flow rates should be good, and I'm hoping to get a stable 5GHz overclock.

I am interested on the noise/performance level between the 120x4 GTX and the 120x4 SR1. I can get the GTX for 50 dollars less than the SR1 and will be running Gentle Typhoon 1850 rpms (4 per rad, not pushpull)

 

need to watercool 2-3 7970s, 2 6 core xeons, the sr3 mobo and 8 ram sticks across 2-3 of these rads

 

again sorry for the threadjack, but its kinda mostly related if you think about it :lol:
