Ghost2520 Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 I had Windows 2000 and I got 10771 on 3DMark01 well after I reformatted and installed Windows XP Home, my benchmark score dropped 1000 points. Any idea why? I did set my graphics card to high performance and I do have the latest drivers. Thanks in advance.
Nuclear Posted February 8, 2004 Posted February 8, 2004 Windows 2K is better for benchmarking and is usually good for almost 1000 points. What your seeing is perfectly normal. XP runs way too many background services at default settings, Windows 2K doesn't so it runs games and benches better.

Ghost2520 Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 Maybe I should switch back to 2000 then... but I like XP so much better! Maybe I'll run dual boot so that I can use it just for gaming... unfortunately I know nothing about dual boot. Its probably too late since my hard drive is already partitioned and formatted.
