Whitelightning Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Hey guys, I am looking to swap out my gigabyte mobo.....any suggestions as to a good solid board that allows me to overclock until the die melts? I am looking at the $100-$300 range. Thanks for the help
c0ld Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 I've heard many a good thing about the DFI Infinity, and Newegg (as always ) has the Ultra Infinity for $93, although it may be crap, I've heard nothing but good about it.
DevilMB3017 Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 any nForce2 Ultra based mobo is a good choice. The Abit, Epox, Asus, and DFI are all great choices. Personally, I use the Abit. I've heard so-so comments about the Epox. Some very bad stuff about the Asus, and some very good stuff about the DFI. Check them out. Iggy Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 The abit NF7-S is good if you want insane voltage options. Epox boards are also good overclockers-I think their top of the line board is the 8RDA3+ right now. I personally use the Shuttle AN35N Ultra, but that's actually under your price range by about $30 dollars. It lacks extras, but overall it's a good board. If you've got that much cash, I'd get a really nice heatsink plus a mobo. Or maybe even go to watercooling.

Special_K Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Go with DFI, some guys have been able to get the fsb up to 260/270 w/ beta bios. If you wanna oc til the die melts then there ya go! If i had some better ram id be oc'n like crazy right now but all i got is 3200
Iggy Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Well, sorry to dissapoint you, but that ain't gonna happen, especially with an Aquarius three. I doubt you could pul 3 Ghz off with a prommie.
Special_K Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 yah meant to mention that, the A2 sucked more than anything for h20 cooling, not sure how the A3 does but it cant be that much better. Good luck though your gonna have to mod the heck out of it like i did to my cooling to get good results
bigred Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 260mhz is NOT a problem with the infinity or lanparty boards from DFI. They're cost is reasonalbe, and thier reliablity seems to be top notch (UNLIKE asus and abit). Gigabyte's are reliable but not the best ocn' boards due to poor voltage tweaks ect. the DFI goes all the way upto 2V on the cpu and ram all the way upto 3.2v (lord knows WHY)
c0ld Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Mushkin Level II PC3500 is why, my large #FF0000 friend.
Guest FxXP Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Its all a matter of opinion, and I see a lot of flaming on brands here which is not needed. I've had 6 Asus boards and they have all been top notch. Its' your choice on what board to get. Read some reviews and decide for yourself.
