Drdeath Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Just enable turbo in the bios..... Pretty simple.... I Got 4.8GHz out of the gate..
Speedway Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I know the 1st gen i7s didn't like even numbered multipliers, not sure about the 2nd gen i7s...as I have not gotten a chance to play with one yet But, if everything is working with the multi set at 41, why not try and bump the BCLK to get to the OC you are wanting. By the way, what OC are you wanting?
reezer Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 hmm. I just want to test my rig. And btw i have a notcua nh-d14 and it worked at 43 multiplier. I just the maximum safe oc. here is the pics of the bios.

It should take you to 4.8GHz...Multiplier makes no difference if it is odd or even......... Edited August 16, 2011 by Drdeath

Drdeath Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 As I said in my post, I have not gotten to play with a 2nd gen i7 yet! Ahh I read too quickly sometimes. Overclocking a 2500K is pretty straightfoward. Out of the box I got 4.8GHz with turbo enabled. 2 min later with a vcore jump and CPU/PLL jump, I was 5Ghz 56 hrs stable prime 95. l1o2l Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Haven't pushed my 2600k past 4.4 ghz. (Too fast at stock already ) Just use Turbo Boost to overclock. Leave Clock multiplier at default 33x. Enable Real Time OS changes, and put 44 instead of Auto in Intel Turbo. That should do the trick. What are the options on the power settings on the CPU - TDP, Current? Prunes Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 It's possible to overclock a little via the bclk, but not very much. I think max is 103, but the multiplier is the one to play with the most.
Stonerboy779 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Disabling power saving features, in my bios and leaving voltages on auto, I found I was getting stable 4.8GHz OCs by just setting the multiplier. The i5 2500k is far to easy to OC and on auto voltage the vcore went to 1.34v max on my board, varified with my multimeter bacause I was plesently suprised. No stability issues after 12 hours of OCCT:CPU and same again with Prime 95.
IVIYTH0S Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Why would you OC the turboboost, would that make it only run as a dual or single core at the max frequency?? I thought Intel's turboboost was gay like that?
