  1. Audio-gd NFB 15.32 DAC/AMP, from what I remember they can be easily driven by things like O2 Amp (also comes in 02+ODAC combo) and Schitt Magni amp (Basically most $20-100 amps will be fine). Before that I was using ASUS Xonar DG. I have a big head so the HE-400s have some clamp pressure. Same with these Thermaltake Cronos. Unless you see the HE-400 on sale for like $300 or less, you may want to go with the Sennheiser HD600/HD650. HE-500 would be a better choice if that ever goes on sale again as well. These links should help you, don't think they have been updated for a few months though. http://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/wiki/recommendations http://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/15wunp/guide_dacs_and_amps/ Thanks for the reply. Will definitely look into the amps. It's not entirely possible to compare the Sennheisers to Hifiman, since they use different drivers, so the sound signature will inevitably be different. I listened to the HE-400 in Japan and the Sennheiser 600, and there's definitely a difference. The HE-400 appealed more to me, which is why I was curious to know what you used to drive it. My only grief is that they are quite heavy, but that's the downside of planar dynamic headphones.
  2. Sorry for the off topic question, but what do you use to drive your hifiman? They are among the ones I consider buying, but they should be fairly difficult to drive properly.
  3. Congrats to the winners. Shame I was in Japan, when this contest happened
  4. I couldn't agree more. People are still hanging on to the old 'more is better'. Often, very high overclocks actually decrease every day usage, if they are unstable. Maybe not by much, but at little can be enough. What is needed more is some of those guides we've seen recently, from Jim I believe. Guides that show how common people can improve their computing experince, i.e. freeing up space on their hard drive. Maybe a guide on how to set up your own NAS server with FreeNAS, how to create a RAMdisk (many people have lots of wasted RAM in their PCs) etc. Stuff like this might also encourage people to have a go with, say, a NAS server or a web hosting server.
  5. And here I though modern music couldn't sink any further. There must come a day where people have had enough of crap music like this, and where actual musicians are allowed to prove their worth.

  7. i still have yet to crack 1.5gb on ANY game, so 2gb is plenty if you ask me. Guess you've never modded skyrim then I'd say 780, I would be onboard in saying the vram will ultimately limit the potential of the 760 pair. If you actually needed two 760s to play a game, it'll likely need more than 2GB of Vram and already be bottlenecking and experiencing rather severe framerate drops Was gonna say. I only have a 1680x1050 monitor and my gtx 670 is using all of its 2 GB of VRAM. I even go below 30 fps in large areas with lots of grass and such.
  8. I like the concept, and it could be a nice way to review games. For instance, when you do the several years later reviews.
  9. Happy birthday Dave. I hope you get to throw your feet up and relax after a hectic CES
  10. Tough choice. 4 more threads, but lower frequency and no option for OC. I'll probably go for the Xeon then. Thanks Waco.
  11. It appears that my motherboard is starting to have some problems, so I'll start to slowly save some money to upgrade mobo and CPU. When searching for the CPU I found that a Xeon E3-1230V3 costs pretty much the same as a i5-4670k. Most of the specs seem similar, but the Xeon has HT, more cache, and loads of other features that I'll probably never utilize, but it doesn't have integrated graphics (though I've never used it in my 2500k). But how do they fare in games and such? As for mobo I'm going with a MSI Z87-GD65. EDIT: Intel Ark for comparison of the two processors
  12. You will see no gain in school work and games by going from 4.4 GHz to 5 GHz. Only maybe some instability, if the OC isn't done right. It is always fun to try and push your hardware to the max, but why not do that for a day and do some benches before and after and such, and then take it down to 4.7 or 4.4 GHz?
  13. I'm interested, but I live in Denmark. What do you recon it will cost to ship it here? EDIT: Just remembered that I'll probably have to pay taxes on it as well :S Might not be anything for me after all. But if you can get a shipping estimate that is not out of this world, then I might still be interested.
  14. Congrats all. I hope you have a merry Christmas, I sure did have a nice Christmas Eve last night (We do it the evening of 24th in Denmark). Just remember that more there is an increase in people dying from overeating during Christmas, so stay safe out there and maybe skip the tiny, little mint
  15. I'm just gonna leave this here, and then you can debate whether group 1 or 2 is the best
  16. I would like that very much indeed
  17. Since I haven't been able to figure out how to use OBS, I won't be streaming tonight. I've tried flash media encoder, but I need at video capture device, which I don't have. And the other options cost $, which I also don't have.

  19. Does anyone know whether OBS can be used? I used it for twitch, but can't seem to get it to work with justin.tv
  20. If I can get justin.tv to work, I'll be streaming tomorrow night at 7 PM UTC-5. What movie we'll watch will be discussed in the steam group.
  21. I've setup a justin.tv profile now, which I'll post a link to next time I'm streaming And BP I'll try to find a date where you can join as well
  22. I might try justin.tv next time then. It's getting too late for me now though, but I'll be sure to write next time I'm streaming. Also be remember to join the steam group. Link can be found in an earlier post a page or two back. Also, great to see that there was at least 1 or 2 who watched the movie with me for as long as it lasted
  23. Seems I got banned for showing copyrighted material. So I guess that's not gonna happen :S So if this is to work, I'll need to find a different place to stream though.
