Guitargirl Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Hi everyone, First off I am a noob at overclocking and to forums, so please bare with me here... I was just tinkering around with my X2 7850 BE and wanted to learn a little about overclocking, so I only pushed it to 3.0ghz because I don't want to blow anything up (yet)...I did a bit of googling and then changed a few settings in the bios and basically I just wanted to make sure I have my voltages and settings in a safe zone..So please feel free to comment/recommend anything that would help..Ok, here is what I changed..First thing I did was disable Cool and Quiet, then I set the Vcore to 1.3, the multiplier to 15x, HT Link to 5x 1000mhz..and then I did some temp readings..I'm getting 42c Idle and after 40 minutes of Prime95 it stables out at 53c....I have added a screenshot of the readings to make sure everything looks ok.. droomagon Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 from personal experience, if you are going any higher, u will go get yourself a better cooler, and try not to get brand name cooler, because they're too expensive, i'm sure there are cheaper alternatives that does just about the same. also, i've OCed my CPU before, and i OCed it up to 13%, and gets REAL hot, but i believe u can OC it more than 10% within safety margin, for AMD chips, that is Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

The coolermaster hyper 212 plus has a bolt through kit for the mounting system so there is a good chance, unless your case has a access hole, that you will need to remove it. That is no difficult task thought. Remove all connectors Ans components from board and there is usually 9 screws on the motherboard that will allow it to loosen. Easy peasy. Guitargirl Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 It's me again, lol..I have a quick question..I just checked my DRAM voltage and it is 1.851 and the specs for my ram say it's supposed to be 2.1-2.2v...Do i need to up that voltage manually and if so, what should I put it on, or will it be ok like it is? I heard that OCZ doesn't stock DDR2 sticks anymore though OP it's not hard, just take your time and make sure you read the instructions first. I installed a 212+ before any it's great for a beginner. I changed the voltage to 1.85, i think i'm gonna give up on trying to get this crazy ram to run at 1066, so i'm back at 800 now..But it's not a big deal, I was enjoying learning how all this stuff works..
