Owenisbad Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Sucess! The 8800 now has no artefacts and appears to be working perfectly powering my second monitor, before windows wouldn't even detect it if I installed the drivers. Free graphics card ftw! Now to decide what to do with it...
Crazy_Nate Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I always wonder how long fixes like this work. It's a solder issue, which truly can only be 'permanently' fixed by removing the solder and doing it properly again (from necessary wicking from capillary action). I don't believe that remelting the solder properly rewets the electrical connection. Let us know how long it works. Free is great! Owenisbad Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 you gonna use it as phsx card for ur 5870? Not sure yet, apparently nvidia have blocked physx with a primary ati card with the latest drivers but there's probably a way around it. Andrewr05 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Awesome, I too would like to know how long it lasts. Then again you're using at a secondary monitor driver so it'll probably never run full tilt 3D thus making it last quite awhile.
