Shadowtroop Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 the HAF series is great but a little on the ugly side, my next build is going to be either a silverstone tj-07 or a corsair 800d

MINDSCI Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I agree with gabrieltessin: The all aluminum Lian Li cases are the best. You can easily MOD them more and Al has 3x more heat conductivity. Lian Li craftsmanship is legendary. But I would go with black: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112271 Beloww is a link to a Lian Li A05B Minitower- no loger available- that I modded. It demonstrates how much flexibility and quality you get with Lian Li, IMO. The case in the Video now holds the HTPC/GAMER in my sSignature: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=11-112-130&SortField=5&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=true&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&chkVideoOnlyMark=on&Keywords=%28keywords%29&Page=1#scrollFullInfo
UkJenT Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Mountainmod Cases are so sexy, durable, and huge.
Fatedmeeting Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 (edited) If it was me i would get this. The Lian Li PC-V2120. My dream case. Huge enought to do anything with. Slick enough to show off, and quiet enough to sit comfortably under my desk. EDIT:Here is the newegg link. My second choice would be a mountain mod case. Those are very nice. Another one I really like is the lian-li pc-x2000. They make such amazing cases imo Edited November 30, 2010 by Fatedmeeting

RockYourAzz Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hi man... Unfortunately no case is perfect and there are always things that would be nice to change.... If you have alot of time, money and a little skill - I think it would be a great chance to take a few months till Intel's Sandy Bridge gets here and build you own case for that build.... I know I would love to get a chance to do that if I ever get the free time.... Lets get back to reality for a sec though.... If I could get a case for free I would either get a Lian-Li LIAN LI PC-V2120A (All Silver) or Lian-Li LIAN LI PC-V2120X (All Black) or Lian-Li PC-A77F or a Silverstone FT02 (Unfortunately I doubt I could find a TJ07 where I live as they aren't beying sold anymore and are well... quite old anyway) I suppose you already have at least a few good models on your mind.... If you simply can't decide I suggest you check which model is first available to you and let that narrow down your choices.... You might not be able to find some of the cases where you live.... Good luck with your holy quest my friend....
GabrielT Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 (edited) Honestly I would get a customized case from Frozen CPU like this customized Lian Li case PC-A71B or the PC-X1000 I changed my recommendation I know but I have wanted one of these for a long time now. VaporX Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Call me silly but I keep coming back to the Antec Skeleton. Oh I know it has limited size issues and can be a real pain to build in. However the case is really quiet, keeps everything nice and cool and is a serious conversation starter. Plusa I likie the small szie that allows me to put on the shlef next to my desk and give me lots of leg room under the desk.
Tanden Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 (edited) Wow, thanks for the replies everyone! Very interesting suggestions indeed... I think I'll be reading reviews at least for another week! I really need something that will fit 4x 3.5" hdds, and 1 2.5" for my ssd boot drive, 2 sli'd cards (that take up 2 i/o slots each). Those are the biggest components. The problem is, right now, with my psu at the bottom of the case, and the 2 video cards above it, there's absolutely no more room to add anything to the other existing pci slots (I'm really interested in the new pci express ssds). I need something that gives more clearance between the mobo and psu, that and the HDD cage (with fan in front), only fits 4 hhds, with the 5th not having any active cooling (I really want all the HDDs to be actively cooled by a fan). Right now, the cosmos S doesn't cover it (or actually you could say it does [cover my pci slots] - no pun intended) Edited November 30, 2010 by Tanden

Right now, the cosmos S doesn't cover it (or actually you could say it does [cover my pci slots] - no pun intended) Suddenly the Skeleton does not sound that silly. It will fit longer cards eaisly enough and should fit threee just fine. The bay has room for 2x3.5" drives with active cooling but using the external mounts can fit 4 more drives. The external drives actually recieve solid cooling from the main fan. I understand that it would likely not be his choice based on what he has said in the thread but I am actually kind of impressed because I never thought about just how much a Skeleton could hold before
