Overclocking my rig

Well second 15 increase to 363 sent my temperature to over 70oC under full stress with OCCT. PC Probe 2 had alarm bells ringing and I stopped the test. I guess my headsink is struggling alread with the increase...

 

Edit: I am of course assuming 70oC is too high, hence the alerts and warnings?

70C is fine under stress testing. Your cpu won't reach 70C under normal circumstances including gaming, etc. Even if it hovers at high 60Cs during gaming, it won't damage your cpu. I have E8400 oc'd to 4ghz with stock cooler, and it is doing fine.

Oh crap i did not notice you were running the stock cooler. In that case i would highly suggest you invest in an aftermarket cooler.

I guess 75C would be the highest I'd let it go, atleast that's how I've treated my Core 2 with stress testing temps

The only thing with that one is it looks kinda big and I have quite a neat case in the Antec 300. I'll check the dimensions to be sure before any purchase though. Thanks for linking me up, I really appreciate it guys.

Eh what's the difference between LGA775 and 775?

IVI recommended a Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer which is what I originally ordered for my rig but it was HUGE and didn't fit (mainly because I have an HTPC case.)

Instead, I use this Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro and my quad core runs 42-47C under full load folding 24/7 in ambient air temp of 26C or so. I was pleasantly surprised with it.

Caveat: It is an AMD cooler but maybe AC makes an Intel cooler, idk.

Super bonus, the AC was $30 free shipping.

Eh what's the difference between LGA775 and 775?

 

Nothing...it's just the kind of socket the CPU is.

LGA stands for Land Grid Array but often times one just says socket 775, omitting the LGA part
