Oh yeah and previous builds I've had

Samsung (my old gateway came with this)

Kingston (an upgrade for my old Gateway, to expand it to 2GB  )

Corsair (had a stick of purple low profile 800mhz go on me, then I got 4x1GB of 800mhz dominator sticks, then 4x1GB of 1066mhz dominator sticks. They were good memory, I don't like dominators anymore since I see there are just so many better and cheaper alternatives)

Super Talent (some of the buggiest ram sticks I've ever owned....and still do own) 4GB of 800mhz 4-4-3-8 @ 2.3v

Patriot 2x2GB 800mhz (bought them for my dad's 940 X4 machine since the super talents are just so darn buggy)

What's wrong with those ripjaws? I didn't have any trouble with the DDR3 1333 version and a 785G motherboard. Do timings even matter nowadays?

Oops, sorry for not checking back with this thread. They were okay RAM sticks for the price, but they don't like 1600 cas 7 on my board very well. Though I can't be sure the board or CPU can do 1600 flawlessly (though everyone else's with every other brand does it), the sticks are rated at that and only managed to pull it off after a BIOS update. Timings do matter, cas 7 is better but not substantially so then cas 8.

Like I said, it's not bad, just doesn't do what it needs on my board very well.
