Folding contest can bring some big points gains

Other teams are buying points with contests and giveaways and this seems to work pretty darn good.

I'm not trying to say OCC needs or has to do any contest, but as an example The Hardware Canucks is just finishing up a GTX285 giveaway and their output jumped 250K PPD because of it.

Seeings how OCC is barely holding it's ground right now (3 months will be dropping 2 spots, 6 months 2 more), might be something to consider.

I see RR is back folding for OCC :) , which of course is a very good thing, but even with his massive PPD output we could still use a boost.

Yes, I'm aware that OCC supports it's folding team and that when they do something like the last folding contest (February) it's very appreciated.

I was just stating that the team could use a boost and that you don't have to give away 10-20 items during a contest for it to have a big impact on the folders and team, that's all.

I was back for a little bit, found out my mom has lung cancer so everything I own is on WCG cancer projects only. I have been doing WCG all along but had switched to try the new big work units on folding then created my own team. Now I am back to WCG... :(

Sorry to hear about your mom, been there with different family members, it's tough, hang in there, all my best to you and your family.

Lets see, a long standing member of OCC just tells you his mother has just been diagnosed with lung cancer and that's your response  ...................are you really that young or just stupid.

Dont speak if you dont even know what you're talking about. Read up on BOINC and mine and andrews threads on this forum concerning WCG.

In fact Andrew is HELPING by running BOINC clients.

FAH isn't the only client that helps research these diseases and cancers.
