New CPU Cooler for my E8400.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys i have broken one of my push pin things and now my cpu cooler (SIG) does not cool as well as it use too. So now im investing into a good cpu cooler. I have chosen a Scythe Kaze 3000rpm fan to replace the stock one and a fan controller.

Now for the cpu cooler. My budget is about $50 and below. Anything that will peform better then the big typhoon vx will be good enough for me. The Xigmatek HDT-SD964 CPU Cooler has caught my attention and its only $35. And combined with a Xigmatek Crossbow ACK-17753 Backplate would this be a good replacement? Or should i get a Coolermaster Hyper212 for $48 from MSY.

I will be buying from:

Scorpiantech: http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer

Msy: http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/msy.htm

Centrecom: http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/default.php

Thx in advance.

When I bought my xig s1283 (essentially the same thing as the dark night but different color I think?), I read performance reviews showing it to be the same as the true 120. So get what ever one looks better, if that matters, or what ever one is cheaper. Either one shouldn't hold you back on a nice temperature and an oc speed.

scorpian is the one with a lower cfm fan and i think it doesnt come with a backplate. the true 120 and xig dark knight are 79 bucks. I think ill go with the xig dark since it comes with a 83cfm fan and backplate. thx guys for your help.
