They do this kind of stuff over here as well, but not that 'official'. Like they'll approach you on a parking lot and ask you how to get somewhere. Then they'll say they don't have enough fuel money, but have some sort of expensive designer apparel or something like that in the trunk which they could sell. Usually they talk people into it far enough to buy that stuff, which is obviously extremely cheap crap. Happened to the dad of a friend of mine, but he was being a bit naive there. Someone like that approached me on a parking lot the other day, I told him to . off with his cheap scam stuff, took a picture of the people and the license plate of the car and reported it to the police. Unfortunately it was a rental car, so they couldn't do much about it

I don't get exactly how this works....random people come up to you and say they have super cheap speakers and do you wanna buy them? lol

Yes that is pretty much how it works. They make you think that your buying expensive speakers at a really low and good price but the speakers they give you are pretty much useless pieces of junk.

It's a really old trick. Generally around here it's Eastern Europeans selling 'designer' clothing and stuff... a surprising amount of people fall for it, no idea why

I'm assuming you're in the US, so I don't know what your options are. Here in the UK, if you report it to your local council's Trading Standards department, they'll try and catch them if possible, and prosecute.

That wiki article is a bit crap as well lol, it doesnt actually finish explaining 'the process' but i get ya. Dunno why anyone would buy speakers or anything expensive in a parking lot anyway? this may not apply to everyone but i research purchases like that (computers etc) to the nth degree so i know exactly what i'm getting and at the right price.

I think you'd be asking for problems, just like buying fag's or a car off a bloke you met in the pub.

Exactly whats happening in Germany, as I outlined in my above post. I can't believe how stupid the people are that buy it

Lol I have had this I was walking in Brighton and a white van pulled up, Two guys started trying to sell speakers. I new it was a scam from the outset. I don't fool easy.

The fact they were selling goods from a van should have given the game away from the outset.

nothing you can do, Use the speakers to prop up books. open them up and keep shoes in them. the best option is they make great firewood

Oh do you have any pics of them for kicks

QFT
"If the deal sounds too good to be true it probably is"
QFT as well...

I'm not trying to be an A*hole (and I know that this is the last thing you want to hear) but you got what you deserved, common sense should have told you not to buy anything from a people on the streets...
