So I bought an Antec 900 to drown my sorrows :D

I've got another vote for the "Victoria" font with the rounded corners. Those plaques are cool, what a good idea! I've never seen anyone use one of those before with a case mod.

I think you're gonna have enough color going on in there with the new MB - you don't need to add another one! (red)

That copper cooler is sweet! Expensive, at least at Frozen, but then again it's a forged part. I bet one of those would look nice on the NB of my TF560 in place of the gold Zalman I'm using right now!

Yer i tend to leave the big threads until i know i have time to sit down and read through them. hence the lack of comment until now :) but as i said earlier very nice.

I always get put of the cases that have that gray internal look its rubbish!

I'd like a 900 but just don't have the time to do spraying and that kinda stuff.

Thank god it's not rocket science or I'd be in a world of hurt.

Like I said, it keeps this oldfaht out of the bars and strip clubs (most of the time) :D

couldn't wait for an E8500 processor any longer.

picked up an BX80570E8400 Q746A489 at Mpls MicroCenter for $189.95 and used the $25 Gift card I had as well.

About 1/2 what the E8500 would have cost me and I really didn't have the extra $150 anyway :)

The LT LP is used and I believe it has the 9/13 bios on it (and I have a spare bios chip also 9/13)

Doubt if I'll get a chance to do my 1st Intel build until Saturday.

I hoping it at least boots so I can flash the 0109 Bios.

Intel, please be gentle with me :D

Good deal on the E8400.....hope your able post and flash to the beta 0109, reading they're improving the VTT control. Any spare 775 sockets laying around? just in case ;)

LOL

I should be so lucky as to have another 775.

Nah, and I bet it gets ugly for a while.

Tmod/Loggan 10.3.9 CD is out and it has the beta 0109 I need on it.

Just gotta hope for the best (and pray)

Still weirded out by the lack of pins :)

But the Zalman 9700 mounted with relative ease.

I'd love to fire it up right now, but I am afraid if it didn't boot I would be worthless at work tomorrow.

If it did boot I know I wouldn't go in to work :D

MB socket has the pins to watch out for :)

I would have hit the power button and been a zombie at work the next day.....it's Friday!

woo-hoo!

Got it to boot after a couple of C1's (turned off PSU and did a 30 second CMOS jumper clear - no BATTERY PULL used).

But it wouldn't let me into the Bios so I disconnected the HDD forcing the CD Rom to boot.

I managed to flash the 109 with the Tmod/Loggan Bios CD. :) :) :)

(Board was on the 10/05 Bios originally)

Once flashed I was able to enter the 0109 Bios

Out of the case on a table with CPU at 25 (Zalman 9700), PWM at 46 and Chipset at 39 in the bios at Defaults.

Gonna check around in the Bios and then connect an HDD.

Pretty happy right now, just hope I don't dork anything.

mknwatt - jebus your mod on that CM690 is wicked!

LOL, you and t_ski are a real pair :)

Is there a blank template for the Bios someone can link to?

What is the preferred program for stability testing? Orthos? Prime95v255?

Prime 95 under processes (CPU time) shows twice the real elapsed time.

Cause of the Dual cores I would imagine.

Custom 800MB for each 1G stick?

Appears to me that the latest Everest versions show the most accurate and complete temp/voltage information (and it corresponds with CoreTemp 0.96.1.)

Air-Cooled (you can call me a pansy) with the Zalman 9700 I have Core 1 running about 10 degrees hotter than Core 2.

Remount HSF or is this common to have?

Definitely all about the GTLs for me (60, 59, 60 NB) and tRFC at 36 (40 wasn't stable for me). 5-5-5-15 and almost everything else on AUTO.

4400MHz with CPU-z validation

4300MHz runs great but Core 1 craps out after an hour (heat probably) while Core 2 keeps chugging along for hours (aborted it after 4/8)

Super Pi at 11 secs

http://premium1.uploadit.org/soundx98//SuperPi.JPG

Ran the rig overnight for 8 hours at 4300 looping a movie.

No issues at all and very responsive.

I would bet I'll wind up at 4200MHz 24 hour stable unless I can lick the heat issue on Core 1.

I'll try and post an SS later.

So far I am really impressed by the E8400's performance.

I also think the Everest Stress is pretty nifty for monitoring temps

I wouldn't worry about flashing the 109 Bios at this point.

I couldn't even get into the Bios without flashing to it and the Tmod/Loggan CD did a superb job of making it easy for me.

hats off to those oldfahts :)

Pick up a spare Bios Chip (much cheaper than a CPU) and keep an Official Bios on it in Case of Armageddon.

Great idea to have one of the around anyway with a DFI board.

(plus a Rosary, prayer shawl, and a couple of Nuns)

Thanks for all the words of encouragement.

(Campbell I got so much wood I could poke your eye out from here) :D

My Command Rate is at 2T instead of 1T.

Did I miss a setting?
