Guest Haven Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Couple months back I picked up a PNY 8800GTX. I knew the card would be amazing but I didn't think that I'd be able to OC it this much..... I know it isn't to safe to run 24/7 at those speeds but I was just benching a bit when I noticed I couldn't artifact no matter how high I put the memory clock. I have the fan speed at 100% but it's just the normal HSF, anyone else had this much luck? Ijust looked at my picture again, now I haven't used ATI tool in a while but it's one of the easiest/my favorite OC tool.....when I put the memory at 1750 that DOES mean 1750x2 = 3500GDDR standards right? I feel like a noob now!
bcbooter Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 nothing wrong with running the card at it's highest clocks, as long as its stable not artifacting or overheating. nice job
Voltes-5 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Yeah man, sometimes we just get lucky with something good. I myself got lucky with a second 7900GT a while back. The newer one beat the older one clock for clock, the rub is that the older was voltmodded at a higher voltage, whereas the newer one beat it at stock voltage. You have a nice card ther dude, take good care of it.:beer
HITandRUN Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Crazy memory if its really 1750x2. I always use PowerStrip so it shows the memory only x1.
Darkorb Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 yea whenever i OC, i get no artifacts, but my 3dmark06 score goes down..
radodrill Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I'd say it's more likely 875x2=1750

Praz Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 yea whenever i OC, i get no artifacts, but my 3dmark06 score goes down.. I'd say it's more likely 875x2=1750 That's why there is no artifacts. The ram is underclocked.

I feel like a noob now! 650/1750 would be 648/872 true running clocks. Good on the core but about 100Mhz low on the typical out of the box memory OC. Splave Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 hmm I have an ultra an it only shows half the memory clock, is that something different between .26 and .27 versions?

You are looking at the true operating frequency in MHz. Double it for the DDR number. Viper
