Well I just went out and bought a Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom and was wondering if anyone else rides? This is my first street bike so I'm pretty excited. They had to order it so hopefully it will arrive pretty soon. I got the Midnight Black edition...it looks pretty nice :)

I got a 78' Kaswsaki kz750. It's my first bike as well but I went with an older cheaper bike...that way if I drop it I won't be out too much...other than possibly my life or limbs but thats a risk you always have to be aware of when riding.

Hi momoceio,

I was formerly a biker. I have had a '02 H-D Sportster 883, and a 100th Aniversary Gunmetal Pearl H-D Softail Standard. The Sportster was my first street bike, and bills forced me to sell it. The softail was my favorite, I had it lowered 3 inches with custom chrome bars, controlls, forks and trees. The engine also had Harley's chrome kit. (Primary covers mainly). All that pretty stuff is great, but the best part of it was the high perf. fuel injection, intake, ignition, exhaust and big bore kit. That's the candy! :P

Hope you enjoy your new scooter. My brother now has the Softail, and I am looking for a FXR III to fix up. I dig the older stuff, easier to tool on.

Be safe, and remember first and foremost......

There are two types of bikers:

1. Those who have wrecked.:eek2:

and

2. Those who haven't wrecked YET!

momoceio.... a Yamy V-Star is a pretty nice first bike. Good luck with it.... I hope it treats you well!

I started riding in about 1970 on a Rupp mini-bike(I guess that's been a while ago!).... and my current ride is a 2001 Harley FXD TC88.

Hey, glad to see some fellow riders here....

Wow...didn't know so many geeks rode bikes :) I'll definitely be careful but I know no matter how careful I am it's impossible to stay safe from the idiots on the road. Saddens me to see so many people around here riding without helmets.

I ride also...

My ride is ...A 1980 Kawasaki KZ650 (overclocked edition)

I bought it used about 20 years ago with low miles on it... The guy I bought it from complained of it being slow...

In stock form yea it's a turd...I rode it a couple years that way and eventually put electronic ignition on it and a Vance and Hines header and pipe on it...I also added Accel coils to really get some fire going...

I have had to re-jet the carb a good amount to get the most out of it and did it ever come alive then....

After I got mine, my Uncle (r.i.p.) got a mid 80's KZ750 and when I got mine done we'd race and I walk him pretty easy...of coarse the 650 is about 100pounds lighter also....

I really enjoy the bike alot...I ride it almost every year...and I can tell you I am not real easy on it either...it spends more time at 10,000rpm than it does idle...

This bike could easily run low 11's in the 1/4 mile which is pretty good for it's size...They offered 2 engines that year and it so happens I got the better one..;)

I also dont wear a helmet...I dont believe in it...yea, yea it may save lives...but...I feel it also prolongs suffering in a bad accident...

I also dont carry full coverage insurance either...because I know if I ever do get into a accident on my bike it isnt one I am going to walk away from so why bother....

it's not me or other bikers...it's just the 4 wheel driver who dont watch or pay attension or think they are bigger than you and will just hit you to get you out of the way...so I drive real deffensive...

In my area there are alot of bike accidents from reckless drivers...almost makes you not want to ride...but I still do...;)

Yeah, you got to watch the cars. Sometimes they just don't see you. I have been riding since I was 20. I got an '05 gixxer 6 now. I like to get out on curvy roads and just pin the throttle till I see Jesus, then hit the brakes and throw it on its side. And when I hit the apex, I pin the throttle again.   I want to go ride now.
